Astralis secure berth at IEM Dallas

The Danes topped the closed qualifier over Cloud9 to secure the first of two IEM Dallas spots on offer.

Astralis have secured a berth at IEM Dallas, taking place from May 29-June 4, after successfully traversing the European closed qualifier.

The Danes made it to the closed qualifier through the open stage and went on to beat Spirit, GODSENT, and Cloud9. Their toughest test came in the spot-deciding match against Vladislav "nafany" Gorshkov's team, where a superb performance from Dmitry "sh1ro" Sokolov on the first two maps was not enough to pull the Russian side over the finish line.

device led Astralis to their biggest win yet with the new lineup

Nicolai "device" Reedtz shone for the Danish squad with an average 1.26 rating over eight maps and a decisive performance on the final map against Cloud9, Overpass, where he scored 34 kills in a 16-13 victory in Astralis' biggest win yet since the AWPer rejoined the team.

One more European qualifying spot is left on offer and will be contested by OG and Cloud9 in the final match of the closed qualifier, scheduled to start at 17:00 . fnatic, Ninjas in Pyjamas, GODSENT, Spirit, and sYnck have previously been eliminated from contention.

Twelve other teams have already been confirmed to participate in IEM Dallas, coming either as a partner team, through the ESL Ranking, or through other qualifiers in Oceania and North America:

Aren't they secured a spot by being the #4 ranked team on ESL rankings, or am I missing something? pro.eslgaming.com/worldranking/csgo/rank..

Yes. They will attend as they have the top ESL rank among the teams that are not qualified or invited yet.

Yes 1 spot is left but depends if NaVi accepts the invite or not. They skipped it last year as well

Did they reject the invite last time or just didn't qualified/invited? Anyways it's not like theirs schedule is that tight in June to miss the one-week event. And a competition on Dallas seems to be tighter this time as well.
