Monte defeat ENCE to add to round 1 surprises at the RMR
Marco "Snappi" Pfeiffer and company were relegated to the 0-1 pool after an abysmal offensive half.
Monte have stunned ENCE to secure their spot in the 1-0 after a 16-11 victory. The Ukrainian core are the second team to secure an upset win on Ancient following Aurora's own coup against Spirit in the previous match.
Volodymyr "Woro2k" Veletniuk's men come into their first-ever LAN with momentum on their side following victories at online competitions such as CCT West Europe Series 2, CCT Central Europe Series 5, and ESL Challenger League Season 44 Europe.
Their inexperience at offline events showed after they claimed match point at 15-3, when they struggled to close out their lead and allowed ENCE to get back in the game. The European mix strung eight consecutive rounds together and was on the verge of forcing overtime before they dropped a 3v2 retake on the A site despite having superior weaponry.

Now the Snappi-led squad will have to recover starting from the 0-1 pool, from which a single loss will have them fight for tournament survival in the best-of-three matches. In the next round ENCE will face FORZE, who struggled in their opening matchup against Cloud9 as well. Monte will instead line up against Cloud9 in the next round of play after the Russians' dismantling of FORZE in the first match.
Mohammad "BOROS" Malhas' last performance at a Regional Major Ranking event left much to be desired as he left the PGL Antwerp RMR with a low 0.84 rating over seven maps player with Endpoint. His performance today was worthy of a 1.38, signaling better form from the Jordanian rifler.
