Monte one win away from BLAST Paris Major

Mohammad "BOROS" Malhas has been in immense form and has powered his squad to two wins at the RMR.

After securing a convincing 16-9 win on Mirage over Cloud9, underdogs Monte are now within touching distance of a BLAST Paris Major berth.

It was a superlative performance from BOROS that got the heavy lifting done against Cloud9, the Jordanian rifler managing to outdo Abay "HObbit" Khassenov who was keeping Cloud9 in the game. BOROS was also Monte's best performer in the first game against ENCE, where the majorly-Ukrainian team took the 16-11 win following a lockdown CT half.

BOROS has been lighting up the EU RMR B

Monte have been making waves in the tier two scene in 2023, winning four online tournaments so far this year: ESL Challenger League, European Pro League, CCT West Europe Series 2 and CCT Central Europe Series 5. The upsets against Cloud9 and ENCE, ranked within the top 10, show that Monte's online form has successfully translated to LAN. However, after the initial BO1 wins, Viktor "sdy" Orudzhev and co. will be exclusively playing BO3s moving forward.

The majority-Ukrainian lineup can now look towards a qualification series tomorrow, and so far HEROIC are the only team that sit alongside them in the 2-0 pool, with their opponent yet to be decided.

Its unpleasant knowing that this coming major won't be the highest level of counter strike, but instead resemble a CCT event. Into the Breach and Bad News Eagles are Legends and paiN, Apeks, and Gamerlegion are challengers while FaZe might not even make the event, despite arguably being the best team in the world.

Its all about preparation and form, I'd waiver NiP would have never made ESL One Cologne 2014 had they been forced to go through a qualification system just because they were is such weak form before the major. We watch CS to see the best teams compete, and when lesser teams make it far we tune out. Its best for everyone for the best teams in get direct invites, allow the others to duke it out in these meaningless qualifiers. If you insist that they must qualify then at least have all matches BO3, BO1's are pure bullshit

ok but the best teams have to prove that they are ready to win it all, form or no form

They are the best teams because they can win it all. We all know Into the Breach have absolutely no shot at winning, yet they are put straight through to legends stage because they beat VP and Sprout in BO1's and B8 in a BO3. We also know FaZe have a huge chance at winning the major, they'd even be contenders for favorites yet they are going through a last chance qualifier because they lost a few unlucky maps. Valve can implement 3 different systems that are significantly better than this system. 1) Direct invite 2) BO3 qualification (even here its fishy at best) 3) Major qualification system they used at Stockholm

Faze won 2 bo1 and lost 3 bo3 in a row. Idk how biased you have to be to blame the system but not the team who can't win bo3 vs tier2. Huge chance huh

All teams are playing to win man, if a team can't survive in the qualifiers against underdogs they don't deserve to be in the tournament after all. And I really like to see new teams from tier 2-3 making their name against the favorites it show that the scene is competitive
