Astralis-NIP to face in elimination game as round 4 matchups for Europe RMR B set

A tantalizing match between G2 and Cloud9 will also play out for a spot at the Paris Major.

The fourth round of games for BLAST.tv Paris Major Europe RMR B have been determined following the conclusion of day two, which saw 9INE and HEROIC book spots in the Legends Stage of the Major while Spirit and iNation were eliminated.

Heading into day three, three more teams will secure Major berths and another three will be eliminated, with a handful of notable names fighting for their tournament lives. Ninjas in Pyjamas versus Astralis is by far the most enticing game of the elimination round, with one of the two teams set to have their final CS:GO Major aspirations brought to an early end.

Astralis will have a slight advantage coming into the game — they have already played one best-of-three series against Spirit and won their last match against NIP at BLAST Spring Groups at the end of January — but neither team are lock-ins for a victory.

The four-time Major-winning organization could bow out of the Paris Major before it starts

Aurora and Eternal Fire will also play for their tournament lives, with the Russian team having had two particularly difficult opponents in G2 and HEROIC in their last two games (14-16 losses on Mirage and Nuke). ESL Pro League Season 17 semi-finalists ENCE also have their backs against the wall and are facing elimination as they head into a match against 500.

The 2-1 set of matches will kick off with a game between FORZE and Monte, with the latter team missing out on their first chance to qualify after falling to HEROIC in an 0-2 series. Viktor "sdy" Orudzhev and company have a slight edge over FORZE as they beat the Russian team 2-0 nearly three weeks ago in ESL Challenger League Season 44 Europe, but will need to repeat that effort offline if they want to make it to the Paris Major.

Two heavy-hitters in Cloud9 and G2 are also set to clash for a spot at the Paris Major, with both teams looking to avoid the elimination round and even worse, the last-chance bracket where FaZe already awaits. It's a similar situation for Vitality and BIG, with Dan "apEX" Madesclaire and Mathieu "ZywOo" Herbaut hoping to lock in a spot at their home Major without the added pressure of elimination staring them in the face.

Indeed! But the pattern so far (including group B) tells us that monte will lose.

Best case (for me) would be if NIP send BIG to LCQ but the more probable scenario is that NIP ends up there :) Anyway, a lot of really good matchups today!

“The four-time Major-winning organization could bow out of the Paris Major before it starts.” Lmao why are you saying it like it is something special which was never seen before. Since dupreeh and magisk left it is normal for Astralis not being at the major with exception of one challenger stage 1-3 showing.

facing G2 in a 2-2 match, the game basically wins itself for you as long as you don't whiff all your shots

Doesn't matter if it's Astralis, Monte or 9Pandas, NiP can win or lose against anyone depending solely on their own form and mentality. A non-idiotic veto would go a long way.

Very very true. Like most teams. But nip seems to be like that more often. Beats teams like c9 or navi one day and lose vs 00nation, grayhound and 9pandas right after

That was before, when NiP was actually quite good. That’s not the case anymore with this wierd lineup. Now it’s just the first part (can lose to any team), but they never best big teams anymore
