Sangal replace phzy with PANIX

Following an underwhelming year so far, Sangal have decided to switch their AWPer.

Sangal have announced the signing of Max "⁠PANIX⁠" Hangebruch, who will replace Love "⁠phzy⁠" Smidebrant as the team's AWPer. This move marks the end of an eight-month stint on the active roster for phzy.

The current Sangal roster put themselves on the map in 2022 with some impressive results towards the latter half of the year, which included narrowly missing out on qualification for the IEM Rio Major. During this period they took a surprise victory over BIG at the BLAST Fall Showdown and rose to Sangal’s best ever ranking of No. 33 in the world.

PANIX currently sports a 1.16 average rating in 2023

The European squad has struggled to match their previous achievements in 2023 however, with the team failing to make it past 5-8th in online events like CCT Series and missing out on a spot at the BLAST Paris Major RMRs.

Their form in March encapsulated their underwhelming year so far as the team sported a 5-10 series record with losses suffered to the likes of Astralis Talent and ALTERNATE aTTaX, squads hovering just inside the top 100 in the world.

phzy now finds himself on the bench of the team he joined in August last year on a loan deal from Ninjas in Pyjamas. The young Swede might consider himself hard done by as he had been Sangal's highest-rated player so far this year (1.09).

PANIX comes into the lineup having posted some strong performances in 2023 whilst playing for Into the Bin. The 24-year-old racked up an impressive 1.26 rating over nine maps in ESL Challenger League, and sports an average rating of 1.16 for the year so far with an excellent 1.30 impact rating to boot.

The German AWPer recorded similarly impressive stats whilst representing ALTERNATE aTTaX and cowana in 2022, though those numbers were somewhat inflated by participating in regional events.

More like this guy is free while phzy might have a transfer cost tied in to the contract if they keep him. Picking a 4 year older t4 star over an established t2 awper with t1 experience is not a smart move for ingame reasons tbh.

first of all, phzy was not hitting his shots - he clearly wasn't good (or experienced or both) enough to play on tier 1, constant misses and below average decision-making. he had 0.95 rating in the main roster, this isn't satisfiable at all. as of fulfilling the spot of an awper keeping the swede roster, draken or eraa would do just as much while being at least just as good individuals and draken would probably much better tbh. so why'd they get phzy again? even getting joel and making him main awp again sounds like a much better idea.

Tbh I'm loving it as it's all coming in place, this roster is solid and making a German core can actually bring another German team in the scene on high level soulfly and kory speak German so it's great As for phzy Please NIP just get him back already, the whole roster is such a mess, the old nip with swedish roster can destroy this current roster easily, they were consistent top 5 team.
