drop on playing Heroic: "We want to beat them because they eliminated us from the Major"

The Brazilian rifler commented on his team's chances of beating the Danes.

FURIA came into IEM Rio as Brazil's highest-rated team and were thus tasked with appearing in front of the home fans in the Jeunesse Arena. With the other Brazilian hopefuls of MIBR and Imperial eliminated early, the Andrei "⁠arT⁠" Piovezan-led squad battled through fnatic and FaZe to qualify for the playoffs.

After Cloud9 proved too much to handle for the Brazilians in the Group A upper final, FURIA are set to clash with HEROIC in the quarters. The Danes seem to be back at full strength as Jakob "⁠jabbi⁠" Nygaard returns from illness, so FURIA will need the raucous home support to carry them through the game and help them exact revenge on the IEM Rio Major semi-final, where they suffered elimination in their home Major.

After FURIA's loss to Cloud9, André "⁠drop⁠" Abreu sat down with HLTV for a quick chat about their past games at IEM Rio and his thought about the rematch against HEROIC.

Hi drop, unfortunate about the loss today. It was a long match, especially the first and third maps. What went wrong?

We made many mistakes on the last map. I mean, the first one was good Counter-Strike by us, and the second one also, while in the third one, we just didn't show up on the T side. We made bad use of our nades and bad individual decisions, that is why we lost and they deserved the win.

On Vertigo you actually were really good and beat them, can you talk me through it?

We had a good preparation for this map and how we wanted to approach it. On the CT side we did 13 or 12 [rounds], but it should have been 15 and when we went on the T side, we were like "Guys, we don't need to rush or need to do anything fast - we just need to play round by round and we're going to smash them," and that's what we did.

saffee was really good in the first half, how is it to play a game when your teammate is that good at that moment?

When your teammates just show up it's kind of easy because you just go, kill one and die, while he's getting two or three. It's so good because he was playing as a rotator, so he was B, he was mid, and he was A. Even if we were playing a retake or holding a site it was easy for me.

You are going into the arena next, obviously some good memories from last year, but the first game is against Heroic and it's another tough game. What are your thoughts going into it?

Well, we are just going to prepare ourselves to play as if it's against whatever team. We want to beat them because they eliminated us from the Major last year so we know it's going to be tough, but if we play some good CS and use the crowd in our favor, it will be a great match and hopefully, we can beat them.
