Bracket set for the BLAST.tv Paris Major playoffs: Heroic take on FaZe in quarters

We are at the business end of the last ever CS:GO Major and the schedule for the playoffs is now set.

HEROIC will take on FaZe in the headline matchup of the quarter-finals at the BLAST.tv Paris Major. Upsets and shock runs dominated the Legends Stage and as such, there are plenty of fascinating and surprising fixtures lined up for the first round of the playoffs.

Of course, two of the favorites for the entire tournament butting heads in the quarter-finals is the biggest story: one of FaZe or HEROIC will not be in the semi-finals.

Can Heroic deliver on their status as favorites?

HEROIC made it this far thanks to strolling through the Legends Stage with ease, whilst FaZe had to battle back from 0-2 down, facing plenty of adversity and tough matches on the way, not least their qualification bout against Natus Vincere.

FaZe eliminate NAVI and clinch Paris Major playoffs spot

The previous matchups between the two giants of the game have recently gone the way of HEROIC, with the Danes winning the BLAST Premier Fall Final trophy over their European counterparts late last year and besting them comfortably in the first match of the Legends Stage. As such, Casper "⁠cadiaN⁠" Møller and company should be the favorites for what promises to be a titanic battle.

Elsewhere in the quarter-finals GamerLegion will take on Monte in a matchup that would have previously been more likely in a tier two online event. This draw means that a team that was heavily unfavored to make it all the way to the playoffs will finish this Major at least in the top four, and also that a team outside of the top 10 is guaranteed to finish in the top four.

SYSTEM IS BROKEN: If FaZe have to play Heroic in first ground A lot of experts told about this also. Also NaVi and G2 missing legends stages only because system is broken, it used to work, best teams didn't meet until highest top games and they played weaker before Luckily Source2 Counter Strike 2 and fix this laughing stock

Because of partnered teams. 4 of these T2 teams are fighting with another 10 T2 for each T1 event and they get like 2 slots at best. Remove partnered teams and you will get the same or almost the same "upsets" every T1 tournament.

guess i'll just watch faze-heroic, hopefully liquid vitality and a grand-final. Cs2 need to arrive as soon as possible to shaken up a scene a bit. I feel skill ceiling has been reached and literally every match up is a coin toss nowadays. All tactics, pop flahes, smokes everything has been learned, even t3 players can shoot heads nowadays in comparison to 2017 cs. Valve needed to update the game more often, like changing gun characteristics, round time, maybe some small tweaks on other maps, even a little box could make a difference. Fundamentally cs2 still looks like cs go apart from dynamic smoke feature, but i do hope it will be a different game mechanically. I guess It's exciting for viewers when every game is 50/50 or 60/40 , but it hurts storylines. Never thought i'd say this but i start missing Astralis and 2016-2019 t1 teams consistency. If t2 beat Sk or Astralis it was a hugee upset, now with an increased number of upsets it just doesnt feel like something sensationall, just another day in the office. Huge props to all teams who made this far tho

Your opinion and I respect it. Playing "great CS" is probably easy when you have nothing more to do and just play "counter". Do I think there's value in it? Yes. Do I prefer to see a team innovate on themselves and bring something more than merely counter strats? 100%! I never mentioned it wasn't "deserved". However, in what comes to deserve, I truly thing fans deserved much more and much better than "this". Or is just me that, if I had a choice, I would rather see a semis where Heroic, Faze, Navi & G2 would clash?
