Heroic pass FaZe to secure semi-final berth in Washington D.C.
HEROIC will once again play on the favorable side of the bracket, but will they get over the hump this time?
In the final match of the BLAST Premier Spring Final group stage, HEROIC passed FaZe 2-0 (Nuke 19-16, Inferno 16-10) to secure first place in Group B and a direct berth to the semi-finals.
The Danes now sit on the side of the bracket featuring Complexity and Imperial in the quarter-finals, a similar position to the one in which they found themselves at IEM Dallas just last week. There, they were unable to live up to their status of favorites, falling at the hands of MOUZ to finish the tournament in joint-third place.
FaZe will start the playoffs in the quarter-finals and face tough opposition on the other side of the bracket, with their first match setting them up against Vitality on Friday at 22:45 . The winner of that series will then face off against G2 on the following day.

Just like in their Major encounter against HEROIC, FaZe picked Nuke to start the series and fell just short once again. Eight rounds on the offense weren't enough as the Danes responded in kind with their many different faces, and Håvard "rain" Nygaard's efforts to overturn an 11-15 deficit turned out in vain. Overtime went the way of the Danes with Casper "cadiaN" Møller's AWP triple at a key moment giving HEROIC the edge after all.
HEROIC then claimed a much more straightforward victory on Inferno to lock down their semi-final spot. The beginning of their offense went unanswered in the first five rounds, and although FaZe tried their best to salvage their chances, in part thanks to Finn "karrigan" Andersen's multikills and in part due to a win with a shoddy MP9 buy, they still ended up trailing by five at halftime.
FaZe started off the second half on a strong note with a 3v5 in the pistol round and began to threaten HEROIC's lead. A last-second 4v3 retake on the A bombsite gave the Danes their first round on the defense, then, and from there they were back in control and closed out the match without too much drama.
