CSPromod releases Beta 1.04

The CSPromod developing team have released Beta 1.04 to the public.

The new CSPromod release, which HLTV.org had pre-access to one week ago, plans to resemble Counter-Strike: 1.6 much more than previous releases, with several introductions made and bugs fixed.

You can download the CSPromod Beta 1.04 by going to the project's official website. There is a number of public servers available for you to play in. Meanwhile, be sure to check our review of the release here.

I've just played it. It feels much more like 1.6 than source or the other beta, although they ak & m4 spray is a little different but i wouldn't say it's bad it's just getting used to it. When you tap with the ak or something it's like exactly the same. Crouch hopping is available but a little differernt than in cs 1.6, the lay-out looks good and awp and flashes, smokes nade are MUCH better than in cs:source Conclusion: Definetely worth a try! (if you have source account)

Okay I you should have the CSPromod file at the sourcemods directory, if so, create a shortcut to the hl2.exe and hit properties instead of adding like -freq 100 -noforcemaccel -noforcemparms in 1.6 also add -game CSPromod

Sorry my mistake I was lookin at PacSteam folder this should do the trick. E:\Program Files\Counter-Strike Source (example) Thats wheere the CSPromod file should go. Just install were you hl2.exe is and create a shortcut, hit properties and add -game cspromod

Hm, still don't like it. Movement sucks, model animations suck. I like the new HUD though, except the radar. But good thing you can change it in the options menu. Still not near as good as 1.6. :/

Well they were gonna add new models in the next beta release (1.05 I think). Hopefully we'll get the 1.6 death animations too, and not the source ones. The movement in 1.6 is so smooth and perfect (!), I hope I'll like it when I test it..

In fact the movement is very good I would say, about the models and death animation I think they are going to include them in the 1.05. And god it is just a beta compared to the 1.03 this is a very scrimmable game and might be the last chance to saveCounter-Strike in general .

The movement is not good at all :/ Actually the models are ok I think, but without proper death animations, I can't get any 1.6.-feeling at all. And yes, they said they will will bring the new models with beta 1.05. But since that will be in about 2-3 years, that beta is not interesting for me at the moment.

That's what I think tbh. The movement in 1.6 is just so much sharper. In source it feels like your obese and just blubbing around maps. I hope it'll get better though... They need to make it less bland, sort out physics/movement, hitboxes and the models... ... So alot...

its easy for the new generation to accept this maybe, but for older hardcore 1.6 enthusiasts, as much as we want and know that we need a change, we dont want too, unless its the last option, and even then i think many will retire because no matter how hard the people behind CSP are trying and working, its seems it is too difficult to recreate an exact copy of the 1,6 feel that we love so much. If we are forzed to change, the love for the game is gone, and we become as low as prostitutes , bad example, but thats how I feel, and that will be sad. because the root for the passion we have towards 1.6, is the "feel" that 1.6 has, even if it is old and ugly, we love that old lady. so if we jump over to any different version of cs, it will be only because we are forzed to do so. unless they pull of something magic in the next beta or the final version of it, then maybe it will convert us, Maybe

Hey, guys THIS IS A BETA Okey imma let you finish, but i just gotta say i actually like the game. Yes, it got some flaws, bugs and things we dont like, but its a beta, and how often does a beta not contain any bugs/flaws/shitty things and sad things? I just have to give some cred to the producers of the game, these people dedicate SO MUCH of their spare time to make this game, and they doesnt even earn any money by doing this! If i had to point out some aspects of the game i don't like: -I hate the source sounds, the fact that you cant hear your enemies till they are very close by, and the fact that you dont actually know where they are coming from makes me sad. -I got to be hones, i havent found many bugs yet, but the ladder in the vent at nuke is bothering me a bit sometimes. -The models (I know they are gonna fix it) -The AK spray isnt very good. -The delay when you duck But all in all, a GREAT job by the CSP crew and god i feel like such a nerd now.

I wanted to add sth important. First of all I am a big cs 1.6 fan. Meaning I am not css/csp enemy. I think some of You guys don't understand that they were trying to import the best feateures from cs 1.6 but their intention neved was/is/or will be to make it like cs 1.6. So when You write it's nothing like cs 1.6/it doesn't feel like cs 1.6 You're being confused. I believe to make csp the shit, the new cs for everyone, especially pro world they can't/couldn't have make it like cs 1.6. They import featuers, import user feedback and make this game something completely new. It is the only way. I am total enthusiast of cs 1.6 but if I want new cs which will rock and conquer all of us - then - I dont want it to be like cs 1.6. I want it better in almost every way! Meaning I don't want essentially more beutiful graphics and/or those things that technologyh allows but make the game unplayable in some cases... With todays technology they are capable of making csp THE game. I think csp creators know that. It's just so damn hard. Maybe one of the reasons is that there is too much technology available. For example - graphics - looking to beautful and too shiny, rght ? On final note I wanted to say that I've always wondered if source engine isn't just fucked and unmakable for cs... I don't know if any of You played other cs versions. For example, I remember when on quake2 there was quake action. I've also played some cs-like addition on quake 3. And You know what ? I've played CSP a bit now, and I like what I'm seeing. I'm glad they removed the flashlight (useless, causes lag for poor people with bad computers, not saying I'm one of them), and a lot of useless stuff in 1.6. Like all the mouse options, they cut it down to 2 from 6. I'm looking forward to the next beta, I hope they'll release it ASAP so I can enjoy that wonderful HS animation :) And finally, I do hope that CSP will make it to the big events and gradually replace both competitive CS 1.6 and Source.
