René Rechtman nominated for Better Collective’s board of directors

HLTV's parent company Better Collective has proposed two new board members, one of which is a current board member of Blast ApS, for an election scheduled for August 8.

Following the departure of board member Klaus Holse, Better Collective announced on June 29th that former Kindred executive Britt Boeskov and Moonbug Entertainment Co-founder & CEO René Rechtman have been proposed as new members of the board of directors.

"With our recently established vision to become the leading digital sports media group, it is crucial that we add media competencies at the board level and strengthen the transformation processes to reach our goal," Jens Bager, Chair of the Better Collective board, said in a statement.

"René Rechtman's unrivaled industry insights and strategic acumen have been instrumental in building and driving Moonbug's exponential growth and I believe Better Collective can benefit from his visionary approach to content creation, strategic partnerships, M&A, and major digital platforms, which also comes from his past in AOL and The Walt Disney Company," Bager concluded.

René Rechtman's nomination is notable as he is currently a board member of Blast ApS, the company behind the BLAST tournament series. The Danish national born in 1970 founded Moonbug, an award-winning global entertainment company behind some of the most popular kids’ titles in the world, and is also a board member of The Guardian, and until recently, was a board member of JP/Politikens Hus.

As a board member, Rechtman will not be involved in the daily operations of Better Collective and is considered independent in relation to the company and its shareholders.

Additionally, should a matter arise that includes HLTV and BLAST and it is discussed at the board level, Rechtman will step out as the matter is being dealt with. As such, Better Collective sees no conflict in Rechtman's involvement with BLAST, and HLTV retains its integrity both as media and as a part of the Better Collective group, with the board committed to protecting its best interest.
