ESWC confirms $63,000 for CS

The Electronic Sports World Cup has announced the official prize distribution for the 2010 World Finals.

Three new game titles - Quake Live, DoTA and Guitar Hero - have been added to the ESWC's list for the 2010 event, which will take place from June 30 through to July 4 at Disneyland Park in Paris.

Meanwhile, the ESWC has announced the prize purse has been increased from $200,000 to $213,500, with $63,000 to be handed out in the male Counter-Strike tournament, meaning it continues being the competition with the highest prizes.

Counter-Strike: 1.6 Male Prize distribution

1. $36,000
2. $18,000
3. $9,000

The ESWC will return in 2010 after a one-year hiatus in which its parent company, Games-Services, filed for bankruptcy, with the brand being later sold to DIP-Organisation.

The qualification process for the new ESWC season was due to begin in January, but national partners have yet to announce info on qualifiers.

I assumed we were talking about prize MONEY. So there was actually NO prize MONEY at all. But the imaginary value of cash announced was: $40k winner, $25k 2nd, $14k 3rd.

Good to see the esport is getting some recognition. But then too its not that appreciable! Just a fact - Dennis Ndiso won USD 35,000 at the Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon 2010. He took away all the money alone. Don't you guys think, the players in esports put in same effort as the players do in other sports? Don't let the community die!

It's close to WCG prizes of 2009 though... give them some time. Either you're being sarcastic or you're just stupid. $63k for a tournament that just came back to activity is very nice.

YES ofc money should go to humanity blabalblabal, but you know what? you can say that about every tiny winy thing on this planet. you can say: omg why buy that new phone? why not give the money to haiti!!! or: OMG! why pay 85 million for Ronaldo? why not give the money to starving kids in africa!? so what if its a game? its a game that brings exitment and joy to alot of people. theese 63 000 IS MONEY WELL SPENT!
