Imperial says goodbye to chelo

Marcelo "⁠chelo⁠" Cespedes follows Gabriel "⁠FalleN⁠" Toledo out of the Imperial door amidst reports of the duo's imminent move to FURIA.

Imperial has said goodbye to chelo, marking an end to the 25-year-old rifler's time with the organization dating back nearly a year.

This is the second departure from the Brazilian side within the last 24 hours after FalleN left the team on Sunday. Both the veteran AWPer and chelo have been linked with a move to FURIA in reports from Dust2.com.br and GameArena.

chelo leaves Imperial after one year of service

Imperial are now left with just three players: Ricardo "⁠boltz⁠" Prass and Vinicius "⁠VINI⁠" Figueiredo from the original 'Last Dance' roster and Jhonatan "⁠JOTA⁠" Willian, who has been with the team from the beginning of 2023.

FalleN departs Imperial

chelo had been a part of Imperial from July 2022. He helped the team secure second place at ESL Challenger Melbourne and qualify for the IEM Rio Major early on in the stint, and most recently made it to the semi-finals at the BLAST Premier Spring Final.

Imperial are down to the following trio:

Well FalleN didnt proved to be a very good awper in his time with imperial, but lets not forget he was IGLing aswell, i think this will be the first time FalleN will be a Full AWPer (i dont remember his role back in the time with Liquid), lets see how good he is with AWP when he can be 120% focussed on his scope.

They will prob "share" the igling with art keeping the "title" of primary caller and fallen taking the lead on passive / late rounds reads and calls Edit: art is, at least, very decent caller when their aggression works, but struggle against teams that match the aggression or that are good at squashing it, fallen will be able to counterbalance it through sheer experience, while focusing on his awping

prob art gonna play like fer in sk, free to be agressive, but more than fer, so fallen will be awping so no big risks with arts push

Why do you think Kscerato, yuurih, fallen accept play with him? Because he is a great and versatile player that can play any role and with all guns, even kscerato said on an interview With art not having to igl anymore he will be able to focus more on the entry/support role

I think they need arT for aggression. yuurih, FalleN and KSCERATO are not aggressive, chelo kinda is but may play another roles, so arT can focus to entry and make his plays and call if he finds a spot. Makes sense to me for now, of course having even better entry would have been ideal but not necessary.

arT is a better entry, that's how the team sees it, Chelo will make up for the lack of Drop. Sup + second entry, he is very experienced, and has good aim/gameplay. the team is complete now, will it work? I don't know, just looking to find out. In addition to the fact that arT is very smart in training, in the strategic part, he only has role conflict within the game. you can tell he's not good, but whenever there's a stat post about entry/aggression that works, arT is there

You need 3 player of the core to mantain the spots on tournaments, otherwise it's considered a new team and you need to grind all the way back from the bottom. Furthermore, art is proven to be a great entry, the most aggressive in the game (although a bit much sometimes). His understanding of the team, the meta and IGLing is a lot valuable, as he can help with secondary calls during rounds.

At first when only fallen left I thought this team would struggle. Now that chelo has also left it will be a tough rebuild for imperial. Pretty much starting from scratch now. They will try for a while and then imperial will dump the whole roster and start over
