EM World Finals group draw

The group draw for the Extreme Masters IV World Championship Finals has been made, and ten teams have learned their fate.

There are still two slots in the tournament up for grabs, which will be handed to the winner and the runner-up of the Asian Continental Finals, scheduled for this weekend.

The Extreme Masters World Championship Finals will take place at CeBIT in Hannover, Germany, from March 2-6, with twelve teams from three different continents involved.

Defending champions fnatic, who skipped the IOL Finals last weekend, have been handed a tricky task after being paired with mousesports' new team and Scandinavian rival, mTw. oXmoze, Evil Geniuses, and Asia's runner-up make up the rest of the group.

Group B sees SK Gaming go head-to-head with fellow countrymen Meet Your Makers, who have yet to announce their last player. The remaining teams are Ravens, KerchNET, compLexity and the Asian champion.

Extreme Masters Global Finals draw in full:

Group A Group B
Sweden fnatic Sweden SK Gaming
Germany mousesports Denmark Roskilde Ravens
France oXmoze Ukraine /A/
Denmark mTw Sweden Meet Your Makers
United States Evil Geniuses United States compLexity
Other Asia #2 Other Asia #1

HLTV.org will be in Hannover to provide you with full coverage of the tournament, so stay tuned to our website.

If you use the fact that EG won EM IV America against coL in final in december 2009 i'd reply that coL did better results against European teams on international competitions. 3rd place at Dreamhack winter 2009... just see the stats from Hltv and watch some demos man to get some arguments! No offense.

group A: fnatic, mousesports, mtw @ nearly the same level group B: SK is outstanding, cause ravens, MYM and arbalet are a bit ( just a bit ) worse. If 3 teams will go through from each group, then it doesnt matter. But if only 2, then a top 5 team will drop out from group A, and the playoffs wont be so good.

beat them at Dreamhack and had 3rd WCG, 2nd Dreamhack and 2nd Arbalet, don't count them out cause of one bad tournament, plus i'm pretty sure that Sunde is back for this tournament. although i really don't think any team is on par with Fnatic atm tbh...

i think if roman plays good then mouz would be motivated and would do good... group b has teams roughly on the same level /A/ will challenge them like hell...don't underestimate them... sk is not as good as everyone thinks.. and ravens did top sk also recently.. mym is good and we know it...complexity is nothing special so they don't count but... in group A fnatic and mousesports are just too strong for everyone else...

I'd say if mTw pracc hard and Sunde is back with motivation they can beat Mouse, imo they got better players and better teamwork (ofc. i am danish so might have something to do with it), Sunde, Trace and Zonic are all equal to Roman i think. But we'll have to see, will be a really close group i think some spots will probably only be chosen on round difference...

Well, mTw has had a solid defense for over the past years. If they find shape again like they used too before all the changes they are kind of unbeatable.

tbh i think they're in better shape than pre-changes, they were kinda sloppy i think. people judge them too much on the recent placing at EM europe IV. look at the other placings at WCG, DH and Arbalet top 3 in all of them, and they had the same amount of top teams. That's pretty consistent considering WCG was right after changes and DH and Arbalet was with stand-ins

Ya.. Gr A is tough...My picks group A : 1. fnatic 2. mouz 3. mTw/EG [depends on Sunde...how he plays after returning from his break] group B : In this group a lot depends on the 5th mYm and how much practice they get... 1. SK 2. /A/ 3. Ravens/mYm. I am a mYm fan though...but sadly not very hopeful for them.

No matter what teams qualify from the Asian finals, they are going to get raped at this. WMF and titans are both horrible atm, and i seriously doubt immunity is on a level that can compete with any of these teams. Hoping to see RRavens and mTw cruising through to the play-offs, but both groups are looking pretty tough.

ALSO-- WMF has proven time and again in matches vs. both Tyloo and former wNv (Tyloo.raw) that they are the asian champions. because of one bad tournament they all the sudden aren't good? In 2009, they thoroughly overcame wNv and Tyloo throughout the year, except for an early slip up in EM Asian finals.

One bad tournament? WMF sucked at Arbalet Asia, WEM, Global Challlenge Dubai and failed to qualify for WCG. I can't remember the last time they did something noteworthy.

No. It doesn't make sense. H2k didn't participate at IEM and AGAIN sucked too much to qualify, so they should not be in the tournament. A chinese qualifier would be nice though, since it's not their fault they can't qualify.

Wow Great job on the groups there! They are so even... Group A is comparable to placing Brazil, France, Germany, Italy, Spain and Portugal in the same group in soccer world cup. If the rest of oX steps up like mSx, they will so win. Rooting 4 the underdogs to prevail!

You are right, they always balance between going out of the group and going home xD But somehow they manage to go into playoffs everytime. I wonder about SK also, they didn't play great recently. Will they prepare and perform well ?
