CYPHER departs Into the Breach

The Paris Major quarter-finalists are now down to three active members.

Into the Breach have announced Cai "⁠CYPHER⁠" Watson's departure from the active roster. The 20-year-old first signed for the organization in June 2021 and has played in three different iterations of the roster, famously making the BLAST.tv Paris Major playoffs earlier this year.

The news comes after CYPHER has been strongly linked with a switch to TSM, who are in the process of acquiring a European roster for their re-entry into CS:GO. The same report also states that Into the Breach are set to replace CYPHER with Adam "⁠NEOFRAG⁠" Zouhar, who is currently on the OG bench.

CYPHER departs ITB after two years of service

CYPHER played with some well-known names throughout his first two seasons with the organization, such as Owen "⁠smooya⁠" Butterfield and William "⁠draken⁠" Sundin. Their biggest success came with their win at Assembly Summer 2022, which coincided with them peaking at #41 in the world rankings, but they were unable to reach greater heights.

Into the Breach rebuilt their roster in February and immediately found a breakthrough on the international stage. They progressed through the Paris Major Europe RMR straight into the Legends Stage, helped massively by CYPHER's 1.27-rated performance at the event.

Thomas "⁠Thomas⁠" Utting and company then went one better and shocked the world by making the Major playoffs, becoming the first British core to do so. CYPHER was once again the shining light, starring in the Legends Stage victories against FaZe (1.48) and fnatic (1.22) while also topping the board in their quarter-final exit against eventual winners Vitality (1.16).
