A raft of Russian teams and Eternal Fire will do battle in Belgrade, Serbia.

Virtus.pro will be favourites to win the event

A LAN event in Belgrade, Serbia has been announced that will pit eight teams against each other for the lion’s share of a $50,000 prizepool.

Virtus.pro will be the highest-profile team in attendance, although they will be joined by a raft of well-known Russian-speaking squads, such as FORZE and Spirit. Eternal Fire are the only team in attendance that do not sport a majority-Russian roster.

The event, which takes place August 24-27, will feature a GSL-style group stage, with the top four teams from the group stage heading to a single-elimination playoff bracket. All matches will be best-of-three, except for the final, which will be best-of-five.

The organizers of PARI Dunav Party have stated their intent to emulate the cs_summit experience with their event, also saying they intend to become the flagship tournament for Russian-speaking audiences.

i think a LAN event like this is perfect for only two relevant national scenes in Denmark and Russia now because you know that the quality of teams attending would actually be on par with that of T2 EU event even though you are confining yourself to just one single country for attending teams. I mean , look at the attendees. 5 top 30 worthy teams out of 8 and all are Russian. Can you say the same for literally any other single country other than maybe Denmark ?

With all fairness, danish scene as in rn has a higher ceiling with the amount of players in international teams they have plus two strong full danish teams in astralis and heroic, but russia definitely takes the "floor" with national teams, there might not be two top-10 potential teams yet, but the fact you could make an eu tier-2 worthy tournament just with ru teams+ef is pretty fun

I mean it's different for grayhound, au scene is locked just to Oceania and only some teams get a chance to internationally, not even talking about teams travelling to get eu prac or play some cct or shit. Russian teams have all that and plenty of them compete on tier-1, but there are simply more exciting teams than opportunities to qualify here. Could be fun to see all these russian speaking teams brawl on lan and create some content, just a fun little event to follow between esl/blast
