HLTV has brought together all of the information about the upcoming $1,000,000 Gamers8 LAN in one place.

Cloud9 will open the tournament by taking on fnatic, and Apeks will face GamerLegion

It is not often that CS:GO gets to bear witness to a single-elimination format as brutal as that of Gamers8, and from August 16-20 the community will be treated to 16 top-tier teams clashing in Riyad, Saudi Arabia, in what promises to be an unforgiving spectacle.

The entire tournament will run a straightforward single-elimination bracket, with every match being a best-of-three series.

The majority of the field of teams were invited directly to Gamers8, although there were several qualification slots available. 9INE and fnatic secured themselves the European qualification berths on offer, battling through well-attended qualifiers that featured the likes of Ninjas in Pyjamas, Astralis and Monte. MIBR earned their place via the North American qualifier, where they outplaced the likes of paiN and Evil Geniuses.

All of the top five teams in the world are in attendance in Riyad, as well as 14 of the top 20. HEROIC, Vitality, G2 and ENCE will be coming into the event in high spirits, having all recently secured trophies for themselves, and will surely be favourites to take home the title. However, with the format being what it is, upsets are sure to occur, and no top team can afford to have a bad day at the office.

Talent lineup

A raft of well-known names will be helping narrate the action at the $1,000,000 event, with Anders "⁠Anders⁠" Blume and Henry "⁠HenryG⁠" Greer being the only members of the broadcast talent team who were not present for the most recent Big Event, IEM Cologne.

Notably, Jason "⁠moses⁠" O'Toole once again takes up an analyst role, having served as a caster for the majority of the broadcasts he has worked on in recent times. Joining him on the desk will be Mathieu "⁠Maniac⁠" Quiquerez and Janko "⁠YNk⁠" Paunović, whilst James "⁠BanKs⁠" Banks and Tres "⁠stunna⁠" Saranthus will share hosting duties.

Premier casting duo Chad "⁠SPUNJ⁠" Burchill and Alex "⁠Machine⁠" Richardson are joined by the aforementioned Anders and HenryG, as well as Alex "⁠hawka⁠" Hawkins and James "⁠BARDOLPH⁠" Bardolph. The final talent member is Sam "⁠Tech Girl⁠" Wright, who will be providing further content from the event.

dont really understand this new thread about the event, why not just update this thread: hltv.org/news/36864/gamers8-talent-lineu.. anyways, the single elimination will be pretty hard to swallow for an event with such a prize pool. Its pretty uncommon in the scene (and thats for good reasons) and some teams like FaZe are known to be slow starters. Surprise strats might be game breaking here. Upsets because of this format are pretty much expected and maybe even necessary: As i scroll past the names of the talents again, i cant help but wonder who composed this list. as i mentioned in the other thread, this feels so incredibly bland, i dont think that there will be much worth listening to in this event. I guess we will just have to see and find out if this event was worth while, and in particular for the viewers. The players will probably not complain here :))
