GamerLegion triumph to eliminate Apeks from Gamers8

A back-and-forth series eventually went the way of GamerLegion.

GamerLegion have advanced to the next round of Gamers8 thanks to a 2-0 win over Apeks, scoring a narrow victory on Mirage (22-20) before sealing the deal on Overpass (16-13).

The series was a hard-fought battle, particularly on Mirage where the result could have gone either way. Ultimately GamerLegion were better as a unit, fending off monstrous efforts from Aleksandar "⁠CacaNito⁠" Kjulukoski and Tim "⁠nawwk⁠" Jonasson on either map to ensure they emerged victorious. Sanzhar "⁠neaLaN⁠" Iskhakov and Isak "⁠isak⁠" Fahlén deserve special credit for their high fragging output across the series.

GamerLegion move on to face the winner of HEROIC vs Falcons in the quarter-finals, whilst Apeks are eliminated from the tournament.

The series kicked off on Mirage, the map choice of Apeks, which was a fist-fight from the very start. The teams traded streaks of rounds back-and-forth, with neither team able to assert control over the map. Often rounds came down to clutches, and individual moments of brilliance abounded. CacaNito was key in keeping Apeks in the map, but ultimately GamerLegion had more firepower across the board, and sealed the deal 22-20 in double-overtime.

Overpass came next, and Apeks got off to a perfect start after losing their own map. Joakim "⁠jkaem⁠" Myrbostad produced a beautiful 4k with the USP to kick things off, and him and nawwk combined excellently with their aggression in bathrooms to help Apeks storm to an 11-4 lead.

The roles reversed entirely in the second period, with GamerLegion posting a dominant defense, thanks in no small part to neaLaN. Whilst the IGL made a lot of individual plays, his whole squad were slick and well-drilled, both in their crossfires and in their retakes, and Apeks simply took too long to figure out their T side. GamerLegion duly sealed a 16-13 victory.
