blameF signs contract extension with Astralis through 2025

The Danish captain has committed to Astralis for a further two years.

blameF is now tied to Astralis until the end of 2025

Benjamin "blameF" Bremer has extended his contract with Astralis until the end of 2025, the Danish organization has announced.

The Dane, who first joined Astralis in November 2021 and is now the longest-standing member of the roster ahead of Nicolai "device" Reedtz, recently took control of the captaincy following the team's off-season overhaul, which involved the benching of Lukas "gla1ve" Rossander and the signings of Johannes "b0RUP" Borup and Victor "Staehr" Staehr.

Astralis have enjoyed a significant uptick in form since returning to competition following the change in roles and personnel. The Danish quintet earned a spot at the BLAST Premier Fall Final, secured a top-four finish at IEM Cologne, and more recently earned an ESL Pro League Season 18 playoff berth following a third-place finish in Group A.

Furthermore, blameF continues to post strong numbers despite confessing to HLTV that his individual level would inevitably take a hit with his pivot to captaincy. The 26-year-old remains his squad's best performer, averaging a team-high 1.25 rating over the past three months, while also dropping down to the red in just three maps during that time.

blameF on becoming IGL: "I know my individual level is going to take a hit"

"[blameF] has proven his potential and is becoming a strong, modern leader who sets his own clear direction while also being good at listening and involving his teammates," Kasper Traube, Astralis' Sporting Director, said about the renovation.

"His dedication and collaboration with the team's other natural leader, device, has been extremely important to the rebuilding of the team, and I am extremely happy about this extension."

blameF also made a statement of his own for the occasion. "Today, Astralis is where I most want to be and the team I most want to be a part of," he said. "We are in a really exciting process, and I am developing as a player.

"Astralis has done a lot of right things over the years, and there are many who should be given credit for what the team has achieved. It is never about one person, but with Kasper Straube, we feel re-energized, and together with all those who work hard every single day for us to succeed, his approach to performance has had a great significance for me."

Up next for blameF and Astralis is their ESL Pro League Season 18 playoff campaign, which they will start from the first round of the single-elimination bracket.

Astralis' roster is as follows:

Denmark Benjamin "blameF" Bremer
Denmark Nicolai "device" Reedtz
Denmark Christian "Buzz" Andersen
Denmark Johannes "b0RUP" Borup
Denmark Victor "Staehr" Staehr

Denmark Peter "casle" Ardenskjold (coach)

Denmark Lukas "gla1ve" Rossander (inactive)

A bit too polished this statement, seems to come from a politician rather than a player.

Good for Astralis and good for Blame. They have been playing a lot better recently and are imo 1 change away from being a contender again. Good start.

Stupid decision for Blamef. Hes an igl, who can frag and speaks english which means he will always have a market of potencial interrested parties in top Danish/Internacional teams. Tying himself to Astralis for a period of 2 years+, which is a very long period of time in esports terms, is in my opinion not the best outcome if his goals are to win trophies. For Astralis its a good decision, as with this they most likely will continue with a rooster focused in device/BlameF for the medium term. Its an excellent foundation for a rooster that wants to win and be the best (even if I doubt they will be able to reach that when your management is as bad as Astralis's).

I don't think his main goal is to win trophies. His playstyle speaks for itself. He most likely got paid a great amount of money, gets to play in an all-danish roster, and doesn't need to relocate anywhere. + it's not that they are going to be absolute garbage, they ain't winning anything significant, but most likely will be able to qualify for most big tournaments.

In my opinion yes. blameF and dev1ce are the backbone of the current operation and are the reason they are back up to #5 already after a big reshuffle. Their individual impact and leadership qualities are top notch. They just need to make the system around them work good enough, which under blameF's leadership it already shows great results. It's currently the best state of Astralis since the last 3 years.
