First ESL Nordic contestants found

The new iteration of ESL Nordic will feature 12 teams in the pro series, and here are the first teams that will be competing along with a break down of how to get one of the remaining slots.

So far four teams are confirmed to have a spot, mTw, fnatic, H2k Gaming and SK Gaming. The remaining slots will be filled via three tournaments; four national qualifiers, the EAS pre-season, and a last chance qualifier, the breakdown of the slots can be seen below:

The schedules for all the qualifiers and the regular season itself are as follows:

Signup Period: 16.02.2010 to 22.02.2010
Qualifier Period: 23.02.2010 to 26.03.2010
EAS Ladder Period: 18.02.2010 to 20.03.2010
Regular Season: 04.04.2010 to 08.07.2010

Nah norway has only got one good team, sweden has got 5-6 better teams so 4 spots for sweden and 1 for norway sounds fair

the reason the teams that were invited got invited was due to them beeing the licenseholders that were still alive from Season 1. The remaining slots were distributed according to the previous performance of the countries teams in ESL tournaments.

There are 12 slots for eps, there are better teams in Sweden that deserve the spots more then Norway or Finland. Why do you think that Norway and Finland deserve more spots over the Swedish teams?

If Norway and Finland get an extra slot each, then it has to be taken from somewhere since its 12 teams, hence why I said "There are 12 slots for the eps" He claims its unfair for Sweden to have so many and Norway and Finland to have only 1 slot.

But Sweden have more teams capable of beating the 2nd best team from Norway or the 2nd best team from Finland. Why wont you accept the best Nordic teams? Instead you want a variety of Nordic teams and a lesser skilled EPS. Lets include iceland then? Faroe Islands, Greenland and Aland since there all Nordic as well. This should be the best teams from Nordic not a variety!

Yep, you are right -.^ Its just like in football for Championship ;) England - 4 teams Poland - 1 team I think players are growing on the trees in Sweden and thats the reason. I mean swe is just an amazing country in counter-strike. I quees all top 5 teams in Sweden are better than top 2 in Norway =/

only judging on DEL, can't remember how the last danish lan with top teams went, so havn't gotten much to base my thoughts on :) however now that you say it however, i remember that they failed miserable at the last lan :D

I agree that it would be more "fair" if there would be more teams besides swedish ones. But if you look at what kind of teams there are, and how competetive they are, it isn't really that weird that Sweden has more teams invited. This way in will be a more fun and competitive tournament.

I don't understand why people keep bitching about Sweden having too many slots? Perhaps, Denmark should have an additional spot, but giving more than one to Norway and Finland would just be wrong. Just consider: Sweden has got: Fnatic/SK/h2k/Mym + 1 (could be begrip, playzone, energic or MANY others) Sweden needs all five spots for all teams with the quality to compete for number one spot should be able to contend, which is not the case for Denmark, Norway and Finland.

The top 5 in Denmark is quiet on standard with h2k, begrip, playzone and others, they just don't get much chances to progress themselves.. so they'll stay unexperienced. In such a progressing CS scene, you can't just take mTw and an additional team to compete within, i bet if there was several extra danish/finnish slots the teams would be able to do some serious damage (I don't know much about the Norwegian scene)

We encourage teams that arent well known to participate in both the National Qualifiers, and in the EAS PreSeason, and ultimately in EAS Div.1, where the teams will get recognized and gain international experience.
