Cloud9 has switched captains after their group stage exit at ESL Pro League.

Perfecto hopes the switch will help us see "the old electroNic" again

Ilya "⁠Perfecto⁠" Zalutskiy has revealed that Cloud9 have transitioned to Abay "⁠HObbit⁠" Khassenov as their primary in-game leader in a post-game interview with James "⁠BanKs⁠" Banks after the Russian squad defeated G2.

The switch occurred after a disastrous ESL Pro League for the team, an event at which Konstantin "⁠groove⁠" Pikiner pointed to having "a lot of stars and a lot of voices" as issues that were holding the would-be superteam back.

Their solution to that, in the short term at least, is a switch of leadership. "Now we have HObbit as the IGL, so we tried to swap some roles so that he can call with comfort," Perfecto explained. "For example when he played Anubis from T side on B, he can't see the map and the information."

The other factor is the release of Denis "⁠electroNic⁠" Sharipov back to being a pure fragger after acting as the IGL for more than a year in Natus Vincere and Cloud9. According to Perfecto, "electroNic wants to go back to the beast, the old electroNic."

Cloud9's form has improved at BLAST Fall Showdown, with wins over Movistar Riders and G2 setting up a grand final against BIG.

Rumours of a possible HObbit departure, with Kirill "⁠Boombl4⁠" Mikhailov coming in as IGL, began with a post from harum1 and had been fuelled by a post on X referencing "Last Christmas" from Cloud9's official account, the song that was famously covered by Winstrike and Boombl4.

But, for now, it is HObbit who will lead Cloud9 into the final against BIG and beyond in Counter-Strike 2.

With Hobbit's current individual form, he will be on Hooxi's level as IGL. Not proven as IGL as well. The only reason it might make sense if they are trying to sort other roles out to plug Boombl4 in.

Hobbit's current bad form is a fact not an opinion. Hobbit does have IGL experience but it wasn't a good experience. Also being second/third caller is not the same as IGL. As someone else said Hobbit managed to destroy Gambit core and his own legacy. His time is up.

I'm kind of glad Electronic made the decision to not IGL and bring back his A-game but this could have literally been circumvented if Nafany would've stayed within the team to begin with (obviously not counting the internal team rumours with Nafany). Bruh hobbit being in that roster had no sense from the beginning and elec decided to step into igl role to save him and boot nafany.Now they realised that elec as an igl is a waste, and hobbit is pretty much washed and useless so they made him an igl. Well HObbit doesn't exactly have a great history when it comes to IGL but ⁠electroNic is absolutely useless at the role so it's worth a try. Will be interesting to see how it goes, hopefully we get to see some of electroNic's old form at least.

Hobbit was always a big voice in that team, doing mid rounds and sometimes igl-ing entire rounds which was even confirmed by Nafany. During his prime as the player he relied more on brain than just raw aim so I do not think he won't be able to do it. He understands timings and C9 seems like they are having fun. When he joined Gambit they tried to make him an IGL and it didn't work. That does not mean it won't work, at that time he had 4 kids with him, now he has actually great players who are smart on their own. I know flair checks out, but Hobbit shows resilience during his time and shown great deal of skill and flexibility so I have no doubts he won't give it his best shot. Anyone would if you were given these 4 players

I said it before perfecto and electronic even joined Cloud9. Electronic is not IGL and he is absolutely cripple by the role, he needs to rifle and just rifle nothing else.
