fame signs four-year extension with Virtus.pro
VP is making a significant step in its long-term CS2 strategy with fame's extension, according to the organization.

Petr "fame" Bolyshev has signed a new four-year contract with Virtus.pro, the organization has announced.
The 20-year-old joined Virtus.pro from K23 when the team played under the Outsiders moniker and famously won the IEM Rio Major under the tag. fame was a crucial component of their run at the Brazilian event and averaged a 1.24 rating, which put him just behind the 1.30-rated Dzhami "Jame" Ali, who secured the MVP.
The team went through a turbulent time after their shock Major victory as the signing of Aleksandr "KaiR0N-" Anashkin failed to work out, and later added Nikolay "mir" Bityukov in place of Aleksei "Qikert" Golubev during the offseason.
fame has shown an admirable level through the team's struggles, as he put up a 1.10 rating and helped Virtus.pro secure two titles during 2023 despite their lackluster results at tier-one events. The Russian squad won ESL Challenger Katowice 2023 before the player break and secured the CCT 2023 Online Finals 2 title in August.
"fame has been showing a good level of play and championship ambitions for quite some time now, and he only turned 20 this year," said Nikolai Petrossian, Virtus.pro's CEO. "Petr demonstrates professionalism not only with in-game matters but also in terms of work ethics, always ready to listen to advice from more experienced teammates.
"Re-signing the contract with him is a significant step in our long-term strategy regarding the CS2 lineup."
fame also made a statement of his own. "With the help of the club's management, coaching staff, and our captain, I have been able to flourish in Virtus.pro and continue to progress," he said. "We are still hungry for victories and believe in each other. VP is the club I want to play for and win with."
Up next for Virtus.pro is this year's Roobet Cup, starting on October 25, and their next LAN appearances are set to come at FiReLEAGUE 2023 Global Finals and ESL Challenger Jönköping 2023 in November.
Virtus.pro have the following roster:
Dzhami "Jame" Ali
Evgenii "FL1T" Lebedev
Petr "fame" Bolyshev
Nikolay "mir" Bityukov
David "n0rb3r7" Danielyan
Dastan "dastan" Akbayev (coach)
