Thunderpick World Championship team list finalized

Eleven top 20 teams will attend the $500,000 online cup.

FaZe are among the sides to receive an invite

Six more teams have been invited to the Thunderpick World Championship, filling up the 16-team CS2 event that is scheduled to kick off on October 27.

FaZe, Virtus.pro, fnatic, Ninjas in Pyjamas, Liquid, and FURIA join the eight qualified teams and the two previously invited sides, HEROIC and Cloud9.

It's a second chance for Virtus.pro, who were eliminated from the first European qualifier before receiving their invite.

That list no longer includes ENCE, who have pulled out of the event after originally accepting an invite in July.

SAW and Spirit claim Thunderpick World Championship spots

The qualification process was notable for handing out four spots via their North American series. Complexity grabbed one, but the process has still allowed M80, Nouns, and Wildcard to cross the pond to test their steel against top European competition.

They will be joined, as things stand, by a North American core of Liquid in what is set to be their first event on CS2 and with Damian "⁠daps⁠" Steele as the in-game leader.

All matches will be best-of-three, starting with four-team GSL groups and ending in a traditional single-elimination bracket.

The event will run concurrently with Roobet Cup, and six teams — BIG, fnatic, FURIA, HEROIC, Ninjas in Pyjamas, and Virtus.pro — are already confirmed to be playing in both online tournaments.

those were qualifier spots, and NA carries a lot of sponsorship money, what's wrong with giving NA teams the opportunity? 4 NA, 1 Liquid (temp NA, supposed to be EU), 10 EU, 1 SA. I'd say appropriate representation.

am i silly in thinking mouz and faze might drop out? they have 4 lans in 4 completely different corners of the world in the next 60 days, they don't need another online event on top of that to burn them out. well i suppose since faze are in the latest wave of invited teams that won't be the case, but mouz qualified a long time ago...

Teams like fnatic, Liquid, VP, Furia and Nip were invited but not Astralis or did Astralis reject it which i doubt cuz they are in need of a lot of practice to be a title contender and this would have been a great opportunity.
