G2 pull out of CS Asia Championships

G2 will be replaced by Wings Up at the Shanghai tournament amidst rumors of changes in the team.

G2 have pulled out of the CS Asia Championships, the organizers of the $500,000 tournament taking place in Shanghai, China on November 8-12 have announced.

Wings Up will come in as the replacement after placing joint third in the qualifying Perfect World Arena Premier League S5 tournament.

The Chinese-majority side recently brought in two European additions, Dominik "⁠Blogg1s⁠" Janita and Rasmus "⁠kreaz⁠" Johansson. Despite finding success with the new lineup they have however opted to compete in Shanghai with the two players they had just replaced: Junhao "⁠ChildKing⁠" Peng and Tzu-Chi "⁠Marek⁠" Huang.

No official reason was given for G2 pulling out of the tournament, but it will further fuel rumors that have linked Nikola "⁠NiKo⁠" Kovač and Ilya "⁠m0NESY⁠" Osipov with a potential move to Falcons. HLTV knows that neither player has committed to a move as of the time of writing.

G2 are the second team to withdraw from the Chinese tournament following Liquid's decision to do the same just weeks before reports surfaced of a substantial rebuild of the squad. Ninjas in Pyjamas previously came in as Liquid's replacement.

Yeah I think them keeping Boros is probably the most likely situation since they literally only JUST signed him what...like 4 months ago? I dont think thats the best move for creating a real superteam, BOROS is fairly solid as a rifler but hes overhyped and still not terribly experienced. I guess he is pretty talented mechanically, he just makes too many stupid, aggro plays, but I suppose someone like Niko(and Snappi at IGL) can mentor him and make him a much smarter, better player...but hes going to have to be put on a leash at first and listen to them. I think the fact that BOROS is Saudi(or Jordanian?) is another big factor in why Falcons like him and signed him to keep him. Although if the Faze rumors are true, Falcons would be stupid not to AT LEAST try to sign Ropz and if he says no then w/e. I could also see Hunter trying to follow his cousin and seeing if Falcons are interested in signing him too(maybe Niko says something like hell only sign if they also sign Hunter?).

I mean at the least it seems that a deal is very close to being done if they randomly pull out from the tourney without giving a reason. RIP G2? I mean idk how you could think they got "exposed", they destroyed everyone up until the semi's, and then in the semi's they literally just played completely awful...terrible teamplay, terrible indiviudal performances(besides M0nesy), terrible decisions etc. and Col simply played decent and limited the mistakes they made.
