The rumor mill has been going full speed as rostermania is getting underway with teams not even waiting for the winter break before making their moves.

One of the teams in the market for some of the biggest stars in the game is the Saudi Falcons, with Danny "⁠zonic⁠" Sørensen and Emil "⁠Magisk⁠" Reif already set to join the team alongside the former Vitality Head of Performance, Lars Robl.

G2's Nikola "⁠NiKo⁠" Kovač and Ilya "⁠m0NESY⁠" Osipov were on the Saudi side's shortlist, but General Manager Petar "⁠peca⁠" Marković told HLTV that they would not field offers for at least one of the two.

"We are not considering offers for Ilya [m0NESY]," peca told HLTV when asked about the rumors surrounding the Russian AWPer. "We are not looking to sell him at any price since we are not in need, that's what we already told the teams that asked us about him."

G2 didn't directly comment on the situation with NiKo, but peca did make a broad statement in a very different tone than when speaking about m0NESY. "NiKo is one of the greatest players who has ever touched the game we love and live," he said, "and it would be extremely difficult to replace him 1 to 1."

HLTV learned through sources who wish to remain anonymous in order to protect relationships that, unlike with m0NESY, talks about NiKo potentially making the move are underway, although no agreement has been reached so far.

I doubt a Niko deal has been signed already. G2 doesn’t have anything going on until December, neither does falcons. There’s no rush for g2. Vitality on the other hand… from what I gathered, magisk leaves on November 1st as well, so they need someone for blast fall finals.

for one thing, niko's performance has been subpar, and there's plenty of new blood that can rise to t1 rifling. monesy on the other hand has been playing cs2 like a champ.

The only player i can think of that could potentially replace Niko is Donk the young Russian prodigy but it would not be easy getting him out of Spirit's contract jail, but if they managed Monesy could help him get accustomed to the new environment and it would be very exciting for G2.

Keep in mind the verbiage used by the G2 GM, he was very selective in what words he used to describe the situation with each player. From what he said, the interpretation I get is that theyre in talks with Falcons for Niko, and theyre potentially open to selling him BUT the price is going to be steep and G2 isnt going to be very flexible on the price(nor should they be, they really hold all the leverage here, they dont really want to let Niko go so Falcons are gonna have to blow them away with an offer). I mean, the buyout almost for sure has to be 1m+, right? No reason for G2 to accept any less. As far as M0nesy is concerned, I think theyre genuinely not really interested in selling him as hes incredibly young and only getting better and becoming a smarter more experienced player..legitimately someone who can be a consistent top 5 player every year for the next 3-5 years that you build around. But...everyone and everything has a price. Also, there is the x-factor here that M0nesy probably REALLY wants to stick with Niko as hes been a really important mentor for Ilya and you can tell that M0nesy really, really looks up to him and sees him as a kind of older brother. And that could potentially force G2s hand to be more open to offers from Falcons, and it might also force the Falcons hand too in the way that they might be open to paying more than they really want to for him if it means the difference between getting Niko+m0nesy or not getting either one. G2 might be in a pretty tough position here, because they dont want to make m0nesy unhappy which can make him not want to play/plays worse, but also seriously request that G2 allow him to explore his options. I think its probably best for G2 to allow M0nesy to follow Niko if he REALLY, REALLY wants to. Ultimately theyll get a metric fuck ton of cash for the both of them, and with Rostermania going on and Faze players possibly becoming available(amongst others), they could instantly replace both with Ropz/Broky or something.

I think m0NESY should be more important to keep than NiKo actually, I think he will be better player than NiKo soon, with age and everything being a factor and all of that, but honestly, if G2 wants to win trophies they should do everything to keep this lineup together, NiKo is one of the best players in the world and replacing him would be so hard for them, I can see that being a beginning to more changes in G2, and I don't really like this idea, I'd like this roster to stay together.
