Aurora beat Heroic to qualify for Roobet Cup playoffs

A makeshift HEROIC roster exits the competition in the group stage.

Aurora have defeated HEROIC in a three-map series (Ancient 16-14, Nuke 7-13, Overpass 13-11) to qualify for the Roobet Cup playoffs after placing second in Group A.

HEROIC are eliminated after the loss but can hold their heads high after coming close with a makeshift roster. The Danish organization announced the temporary benching of Jakob "⁠jabbi⁠" Nygaard and Martin "⁠stavn⁠" Lund just before the tournament kicked off, which forced them into using MOUZ NXT duo William "⁠sirah⁠" Kjærsgaard and Christoffer "⁠Chr1zN⁠" Storgaard as stand-ins.

The series began on Aurora's pick of Ancient, and the map proved to be a back-and-forth affair. HEROIC took the lead after an 8-4 CT half but struggled to close out the map in regulation, and have Chr1zN's 1vs3 clutch to thank for keeping them in the game.

The brawly nature of the game continued in overtime, where the Danes gave themselves a solid platform for victory with two T-sided rounds, only for Aurora to clean sweep their own offensive half to edge out the map, 16-14.

HEROIC picked Nuke and went for a simple approach to their offensive side, which proved to be the right decision. They quickly negated Aurora's pistol-round win and found themselves 7-5 ahead at the switch. A hot start to their defensive half put the Danes at map point, and they successfully closed out the map, 13-7, to move the series to Overpass.

Overpass began with one-way traffic for Aurora, who ran away to a 5-0 lead, but the Russian squad couldn't keep up their momentum as HEROIC reeled them in and tied up the half-time score. A second-half pistol victory returned Aurora into the lead, and the Russian squad edged out a 13-11 victory by the skin of their teeth to progress to the Roobet Cup playoffs.
