Monte dismantle Movistar Riders to advance to Roobet Cup semis

A matchup against Aurora awaits Monte on the bottom side of the playoffs bracket on Wednesday.

Monte have earned the second semi-final spot in Roobet Cup following a convincing finish to their 2-0 victory against Movistar Riders (13-10 Anubis, 13-1 Overpass).

Viktor "⁠sdy⁠" Orudzhev and company move on to play Aurora in the semi-finals on Wednesday at 15:00 . The Russian side has been one of the surprise packages of the tournament, having eliminated BIG in the quarter-finals earlier on Monday.

Yet to lose a map in Roobet Cup, Monte have continued a flawless campaign through the $250,000 tournament following wins over OG and Ninjas in Pyjamas in the groups and now the Movistar Riders.

In their quarter-final matchup against the Spaniards, Monte were in control from the start with a dominant CT on Anubis, spearheaded by Szymon "⁠kRaSnaL⁠" Mrozek.

Movistar Riders had Antonio "⁠MartinezSa⁠" Martinez to thank for getting them back into the game, with the AWPer going 16-5 on the defensive half, but his efforts were in vain after the Spanish side gave away the momentum when a forcebuy win at 10-10 turned the tide back into Monte's favor.

A 13-1 landslide of a map followed on Overpass. Unable to even reach the bombsite to plant the bomb on more than two occasions, Movistar Riders could not break through Monte's superb defense.
