FURIA through to Roobet Cup semis over Apeks

FURIA, the Roobet Cup Group A top seed after beating Eternal Fire and HEROIC in the group stage, made it past their first hurdle in the playoffs by taking out Apeks in the quarterfinals.

It took the Brazilians two maps, Ancient and Overpass, to secure passage to the semifinals. It was Marcelo "⁠chelo⁠" Cespedes who shone brightly early on Ancient, Apeks’ map pick, with a 15-2 scoreline in a 7-5 CT half that went the way of his team.

Apeks became strong on their own defense, but a crucial quad kill by Kaike "⁠KSCERATO⁠" Cerato, who before that round was dragging 6-10, changed the momentum of the map. FURIA regained their lead, 10-9, and after back-and-forth rounds managed to break Apeks’ economy as they also hit match point, clearing the way to steal the map 13-11.

With the wind in their sails, FURIA claimed an early lead on their map pick of Overpass. Eight T-side rounds all but certified their superiority.

Up 10-4 and with Yuri "⁠yuurih⁠" Santos on fire, it seemed certain that it was in the bag, but a final push by Apeks took the map to the brink. in the end, it was a three-kill round by Andrei "⁠arT⁠" Piovezan that closed it out in the final round of regulation, 13-11.

FURIA will now face the victor of Virtus.pro and OG in the semi-finals. The other side of the bracket is already decided, where it will be Aurora and Monte fighting to reach the grand final on Thursday.
