The Portuguese veteran will be away from the game for a while to recover from fatigue.

MUTiRiS steps down from SAW's starting lineup for a spell

Christopher "⁠MUTiRiS⁠" Fernandes is taking "a short break" from competition, SAW announced on November 2. The Portuguese organization did not set a timetable for the return of the in-game leader, who has been part of the team since the start of 2020.

"For a while now, I've been feeling quite worn out, and this has had an impact on the way I help the team," MUTiRiS wrote on Twitter. "With SAW's support, I have decided to take some time off for myself, to rest, recharge my batteries, and come back stronger in the future."

António "⁠aragornN⁠" Barbosa, a former member of GTZ and Los Alpacas, will be filling in for MUTiRiS during his break from action, with João "⁠story⁠" Vieira taking over in-game leadership duties in the interim.

These changes come amid a tough period for SAW, who recently finished second to FTW at the Aveiro Techdays Cup. Only last week, they lost to their domestic rival again in the winners' final of the online stage of MLP Season 12.

SAW finished fourth in their group in the first stage of ESL Challenger League Season 46 Europe, with two victories from five matches. They will face The Prodigies next in the medium seed group of the $100,000 competition.

With MUTiRiS out of action, SAW currently have:

i still feel like the old ftw lineup could have done better than saw. saw is stagnated, and has been for 3.5 years now. if they only changed mut/roman for another igl

I dont know if ftw could've done better or not, however the idea that saw have been stagnated in the last 3 years is crazy. Let me remind you that in 2020 saw was fighting to be in HLTV's top 50. In 2021/2022 were fighting to be a consistent tier 3 team and in the top 30 And, more recently, saw are considered a cleare "tier 2.5" team, that no longer fights to get out of the group stages, they now fight for the victories (before cs2 at least) It is true that the ESL mdl/challanger league result aren't really imnproving that much, however this team is no longer an underdog

relativly to the players mutiris/roman. The best two igls in iberia are mutiris and alex, so an upgrade in this regard would't be possible. The closest rival isprobably ddias, however you would lose a lot of firepower. About roman - I obviously am very biased towards him, as you can see from my "fan" section. The closest players that you have to him are Ag1l, just and nope. Just and nope are purelly late game players - so, whilst can do proper support, aren't really playmakers as roman is. Ag1l has shown a lot of potencial, however I am don't fully know if the roles are the same either (maybe they are). It is also important to remember, that roman and mutiris were the best two performers in the last big lan tournament they entered - I really dont understand why this is even a conversation topic

sAw doesn't need roster changes currently. They need to grind more t2 tourneys and play more maps. Mut needs recovery too. I'd say they need to play more officials just like Monte for instance. They currently are having issues on cs2 not because they're a bad team, but because they need more officials on the game. They prefer to pracc a lot for some reason but praccs aren't a good representation of anything as lots of teams/players troll. Just grind t2 for some weeks and you'll find the weaknesses of your game + be able to work on them while also getting your level close to t1 (the t2 jungle is lots of times harder than t1)
