FaZe defeat MOUZ 2-1 to secure semis berth in Shanghai

FaZe will dodge the first round of the playoffs due to their top seed in Group B.

After playing the longest LAN map on CS2 against Ninjas in Pyjamas, a 28-25 marathon on Ancient, FaZe got back on stage to take on MOUZ in the Group B playoff seeding match and won the series after three fought out maps to qualify straight to the tournament's semi-finals.

The series kicked off on Mirage, where MOUZ put together a perfectly executed T-side which ended going 9-3 in favor of Kamil "⁠siuhy⁠" Szkaradek and his men.

FaZe, who have a knack for making comebacks, brought it all the way back and forced it to go all the way to the 24th round, but in the end MOUZ found enough gas in the tank to power through in the final round of play, 13-11.

MOUZ stood up to FaZe on Nuke, taking early control on the CT side, going so far as to lead by double at the half, 8-4, after Jimi "⁠Jimpphat⁠" Salo stuck a defuse in a 1vs1 against Russel "⁠Twistzz⁠" Van Dulken in the final round after killing two other defenders. Even with the significant lead, it wasn’t enough, as once FaZe took to the CT side it was the Robin "⁠ropz⁠" Kool show and MOUZ were not allowed to tally a single round.

Despite their long day, FaZe didn’t give in to fatigue and put forth a strong start on Overpass with ropz once again leading the charge as he and his team took a 4-0 lead. MOUZ hit back on the attack, however, and inflicted some economic damage to tie things up by the half, 6-6.

FaZe won the second pistol round and imposed their will on the attack, with Finn "⁠karrigan⁠" Andersen even winning a 1vs2 early on to keep his team on track to victory. Another crucial round won by ropz and Helvijs "⁠broky⁠" Saukants in a 2vs4 all but sealed the deal as FaZe locked in 11 rounds. Two rounds later the game was over.

The loss isn’t the end for MOUZ, though, who are still qualified for the playoffs. Unlike FaZe, who will start in the semi-finals, siuhy and his men will have to start a round earlier, and they will do so against Lynn Vision on Friday at 05:00 .
