frozen: "I'm looking for revenge over FaZe"

The Slovakian wants to beat his former teammates, karrigan and ropz, to the trophy.

MOUZ are one step away from lifting their second big trophy in as many months after reaching the grand final of CS Asia Championships 2023 with a win over Astralis.

The European combine were hamstrung at IEM Sydney, the first big CS2 LAN, due to Jimi "⁠Jimpphat⁠" Salo having visa issues, and thus couldn't start the game off on the right foot after winning ESL Pro League Season 18 just weeks prior.

Now, they have a shot at a second title, and only the winner of the second semi-final between ENCE and FaZe stands in the way. The latter team is the more compelling opponent for David "⁠frozen⁠" Čerňanský, who took a moment to speak to HLTV after making the final to explain just why he wants to beat Finn "⁠karrigan⁠" Andersen and Robin "⁠ropz⁠" Kool.

Through to another grand final, tell me how that sounds to you and how that feels after the stumble in Sydney without Jimpphat.

It feels amazing. It's my second time in China, my second grand final also. I'm feeling amazing, the boys are popping off, everyone is popping off, and I think we have good chances.

We met FaZe already earlier in this tournament, I don't think they played the greatest to be very honest. It felt like we had chances in that game, so I'm looking for revenge.

They're a team that has given you trouble in your last three meetings, what are you going to do differently if you end up meeting them in the grand final this time?

That's a good question, I mean we've played them what, three times now I think, at three different tournaments? At this point there are little mind games going on, like you change some stuff there, they change some stuff there.

We just have to come ready, because as I said we played them earlier and I feel like we actually had the chances to close it out, but they just won the most important rounds. Finn running out on A getting two kills, then Robin doing this insane flick and 2k on A. If we play the same as we did or even better, they're going to have a much harder time against us this time.

Talking about this match quickly, a great start on Overpass, you were having a great game. Just talk to me about that map and your performance in it.

We played Overpass, it's a comfortable map for me. I just knew what they were going to do and I think everything I did also worked, which is just one of those games where anything you do just works. Super confident in the moment, and thank god we closed it out actually.

Can't say the same for Mirage though, a little bit harder. What went wrong?

It's usually a good map for us. They were just shooting harder honestly, I think they came back from the break earlier and they were just whooping us in warmup already in the spawn. No chance to warmup, they just came hot, they had a lot of players popping off and I think Mirage is just that ype of a map.

Vertigo was a different type of map, 12-0, almost a 13-0. A little bit disappointed you couldn't get it?

Yeah, not really satisfied with the Vertigo to be honest. The T side was amazing, everyone played amazing. The CT side, I got a little worried, but I kept believing that we were going to close it out the whole time. It just got a ltitle scrappy, so not really satisfied but thank god we closed it as well.

We mentioned possibly going up against FaZe in the grand final, do you think they're the ones who are going to make it through, or would you rather face ENCE?

It's a good question, as I said I would more look for revenge against FaZe because they already beat us a couple of times now. And you know, last time I was here, I won a trophy with Finn and Robin, so might be a good chance to steal it from them.
