erkaSt returns to Grayhound as coach

One of the most experienced players in the Asian region has made the switch to coaching.

erkaSt represented Grayhound as a player at two Majors

Grayhound have announced that Mongolian Erdenetsogt "erkaSt" Gantulga has joined the team as their coach, finally filling the position that was made vacant by the departure of David "Kingfisher" Kingsford in February.

erkaSt had previously been playing with NKT since May 2021, taking a break mid-way through his stint to try his hand at VALORANT.

The 28-year-old is no stranger to the Grayhound organisation, having represented the team as a player from 2017-2019, alongside the likes of Christopher "dexter" Nong. He helped the squad win a plethora of regional tournaments and attend two Majors, IEM Katowice 2019 and StarLadder Major 2019.

The roster he will now coach has been the best team in their region for some time, first as Renegades then as Grayhound, but has struggled to convert that regional dominance to international success.

Most recently, the team attended IEM Cologne Play-In, ESL Pro League and IEM Sydney, grabbing a single series win across the three competitions.

Grayhound are now:

New Zealand Simon "Sico" Williams
Australia Jay "Liazz" Tregillgas
Australia Alistair "aliStair" Johnston
Australia Joshua "INS" Potter
Australia Declan "Vexite" Portelli

Mongolia Erdenetsogt "erkaSt" Gantulga (coach)

yeah but it was expired plus he technically worked (was a player for a professional organisation) and did not study, so they deported him iirc

AU gov is the biggest enemy of AU. Why on hell would you deport an athlete that is also representing australia? They are killing their own cs scene with those low iq moves

Our government doesn't care for esports, they're so backwards they probably don't even know what it is. Everything esports related in this country is privately funded and organised by the few people that are generous enough to invest in the scene.

You get done for being on the wrong visa, it's something like a 10 year ban. Same thing that Djokovic was facing with that mess around Covid shot exemptions applying or not, which ended up being waived so that he could compete the following year (this year?).

The return of an old face. Quite a pleasant move to see hope he does well. That being said I think they need some changes as I think the current rooster has peaked and needs a refresher (Sico is the obvious player to remove).

Gratisfaction stepped down, so it's just XigN, BnTet, and xerolte left right now. I'm not sure if they have a future there or not.

Is there even any hope for those guys left? BnTeT’s washed, XigN doesn’t exactly have anywhere to go and I think still hasn’t done his mandatory military service(?), and well…

I don't know, I think it may hinge on what NKT tries to do. I don't know if they even intend to stay in CS.

Well as #45 said the core is still together playing in EFLARE. It doesn't look like they are using the NKT name though. EFLARE's Twitter account has them listed as 'Ongeh Warrior'.

I try to keep an eye on a lot teams on Liquipedia which is usually well sourced, but as I said in #53 they listed it as an inside source, so I'm not sure where that info came from.

K... Grayhound will be doomed for sure... erkaSt is the main and only reason why NKT was so bad. I'm sure you guys have heard about erkast being so toxic and so over-controlling. He was a f-ing drama queen where he almost begged and brainwashed the owner and other guys into removing senzu, nin9 & machinegun. I'm sure he promised things will be much better without them and they'll finally win something if they bring whoever he mentioned. Now look at NKT, disbanded - poor XigN, BnTeT just wasted their year with this super toxic guy. NKT qualified only one A-Tier event which is BLAST EU Showdown where they lost to Heroic in the first round. But guess what it was a time where erkaSt left them to pursue his C9 Valorant career. Things were never good when erkaSt was there... Toxicity officially became his middle name since 2021... I hope Grayhound realizes what kind of garbage they brought there ASAP...

what luck lmao They have no real proper events until likely Katowice. Meanwhile teams from the rest of the non-European world have additional international events that they'll be able to attend, providing them needed experience to improve in the long term kekw
