MIBR outclass Aurora to qualify for BetBoom Dacha

Lights-out performances from brnz4n and insani allowed the Brazilian team to dominate their Russian counterparts.

MIBR have earned a spot at BetBoom Dacha 2023 after trouncing Aurora in the first advancement match of the closed qualifier, mustering a stalwart defense on the Russian team's pick of Inferno to clinch a win and continuing that first-half dominance with an imperious offense on Anubis to close out the series.

Raphael "⁠exit⁠" Lacerda's men took part in the BetBoom Dacha closed qualifier while attending PARI Please in Belgrade, where they managed to make the playoffs before crumbling 0-2 to Eternal Fire to be eliminated in 3-4th place.

Qualifying for this $300,000 event that will take place in Dubai, UAE from December 5-10 offers MIBR some decent consolation after that loss, and gives them a much-needed boost of confidence going into ESL Challenger Jönköping from November 24-26 where Eternal Fire will also be in attendance.

ESL Challenger Jönköping groups determined

The Brazilian team were gifted a free ride to the playoffs of the eight-team qualifier after Ninjas in Pyjamas dropped out of the event and forfeited their group stage match, but couldn't secure a direct berth to one of the qualifying matches after faltering 0-2 to Spirit.

Instead, they had to fight past BIG in their opening playoff game to have a shot at qualifying for the main event, and that game went the distance. Johannes "⁠tabseN⁠" Wodarz's side struck first by battering the Brazilian team 13-5 on Vertigo, but couldn't convert that into a 2-0 victory as MIBR equalized on Anubis thanks to a strong attacking effort.

A staunch defense on the Ancient decider put BIG up 9-3 at the break as they closed in on victory, but MIBR put up an impregnable defense after the side swap to win nine rounds in a row and reach match point before closing things out in overtime to set up a match against Aurora.

Viktor "⁠Lack1⁠" Boldyrev and company couldn't get anything going in their match against MIBR, however, with the Brazilian team dominant from the start of the series to its end.

Aurora went up 2-0 to kick off their Inferno pick but couldn't find an answer to MIBR's defenses for the rest of the half, smashing their heads against an unbreakable wall as they got just one bomb plant down in the next ten rounds while MIBR ran away with the game.

A better start to the second half allowed the Russian team to close that deficit, but it truly only served to make the scoreline look a little more respectable before MIBR sealed away the win thanks to inspired performances from Breno "⁠brnz4n⁠" Poletto, Rafael "⁠saffee⁠" Costa, and exit.

Anubis was equally as one-sided, with MIBR running rampant over Aurora's defenses to post another 10-2 lead at this break. This time, it was Felipe "⁠insani⁠" Yuji who led the way for his side, mustering a 2.00 rating, five first kills, and 127 ADR en route to closing out the game, 13-6.

One final spot at BetBoom Dacha 2023 will be handed out to the winner of the second qualifying match between Spirit and 9INE on Tuesday.
