ENCE's debut with their new in-game leader-coach combo ends in third-fourth place.
Apeks have become the first grand finalists of Elisa Masters Espoo following a 2-0 victory over the Finnish crowd's favorite team, ENCE. Their opponents in the title decider will be determined later today in the FURIA vs. HAVU semi-final.
It's the end of the road for ENCE in their organization's home event as they finish in joint-third place in their debut with Lukas "gla1ve" Rossander and Jakub "kuben" Gurczyński, which came after just around a week's worth of preparation.
The new roster had its chances to make it to the grand final, but an in-form Apeks with Tim "nawwk" Jonasson at the helm proved too tall a task.
ENCE's Vertigo pick backfired as their Terrorist side fell flat against a terrifying Apeks defense, led by the Swedish AWPer and Macedonian duo Aleksandar "CacaNito" Kjulukoski and Damjan "kyxsan" Stoilkovski.
A much more competitive Anubis followed, where ENCE even had a 10-5 lead off the back of both pistols wins and conversions, but this time their defense was lacking on the typically Terrorist-favored map. Apeks went 8-1 with some well-timed executes and mid-round adjustments, aided by Joakim "jkaem" Myrbostad finding crucial kills in Mid late in the game, to close the series in two.
"I think I'm just lucky," nawwk joked when asked about his stellar performances in Espoo, where he is the highest-rated player with a 1.37 rating in five maps. "No, I'm enjoying the game a lot, I know a lot of people hate it, but I'm enjoying it so much, a new game and I'm grinding and playing a lot."
