Astralis 2-5 FURIA

A lights-out performance from Benjamin "⁠blameF⁠" Bremer, who currently sits upon a 13-2 K-D, hasn't been enough to grant Astralis the lead you think it would.

The Dane has been doing his best to bail Astralis out of disadvantageous situations and brought them their first round, but his team are on the back foot after Andrei "⁠arT⁠" Piovezan won a 1v3 clutch with the AWP to grant FURIA full control.

Astralis 2-2 FURIA

Group B's elimination match is underway on FURIA's pick of Mirage, and both Astralis and FURIA have a lot to prove after dismal starts to their Dacha tournament campaigns. Peter "⁠casle⁠" Ardenskjold talked about his team having a "six map pool" before the series but wasn't particularly confident about their level across that pool, so let's see what they can do with this veto.

We got off to an odd start for sure as Astralis tapped down all five FURIA players in the pistol round, but somehow couldn't convert that into a bomb defuse and lost the round.

FURIA used that to go up 2-0, but we're all tied up now after a heroic defense of the B bombsite from Benjamin "⁠blameF⁠" Bremer got his team on the board.

Felipe "⁠insani⁠" Yuji went on the broadcast for a quick interview with Henry "⁠HenryG⁠" Greer and Adam "⁠Dinko⁠" Hawthorne after the game to discuss MIBR's comeback win over Cloud9. Take a look at some highlights below:

On completing the comeback after poor starts on Anubis and Inferno: Our characteristic is to believe until the end, so we can manage to win these games. We couldn't even enter on Anubis, they played really well, and on Inferno we were down 4-8 and we lost the pistol, so it was a really hard game. But we managed to believe in each other and believe in the game.

On shutting down Boombl4 and Cloud9's game plan on Inferno: We had a game plan, they're a team that doesn't have an official AWPer. It's Boombl4, but he doesn't always play with the AWP, so we managed to take an advantage off of that. We kept it up with a good game plan to win Inferno, and on Mirage we did a good job.

On what he has gotten better at personally over the past year: I think I didn't have a lot of experience when I first played, like at Katowice. Along the year I managed to observe a lot from my teammates and a lot from the teams I've played against and trained against, and I think that's where I improved a lot, both in the game and in experience.

Cloud9 4-8 MIBR

MIBR put in work on the attacking side of Mirage despite starting 0-3 as they are going into the half with double Cloud9's round count on the scoreboard, 8-4.

Cloud9 3-3 MIBR

Two Desert Eagle headshots from Felipe "⁠insani⁠" Yuji that sent Ilya "⁠Perfecto⁠" Zalutskiy running away to save in a 1vs2 situation gave MIBR their first round on a forcebuy. Now they have evened out the scoreline after six rounds.

Cloud9 3-0 MIBR

Cloud9 have picked themselves up and brushed themselves off after tough defeat on Inferno and are now up 3-0 on the Mirage decider map after the first gun round.

Cloud9 13-16 MIBR

Cloud9 had the wind in their sails after a one-sided win on Anubis and a six-round lead on Inferno. Only three rounds separated Konstantin "⁠groove⁠" Pikiner's men from victory, but MIBR clawed their way back into the map on the attack and even surmounted match points to force overtime.

A 13-14 lead after their attacking half was enough as the Brazilians then won two straight on the defense to shut it down and force the series to Mirage.

MIBR tried to abuse the B site in overtime and were successful the first time around, but the second time in a row the round ended up in a 1vs1 between Sergey "⁠Ax1Le⁠" Rykhtorov and Rafael "⁠saffee⁠" Costa that went the way of the Russian. An A hit with a double by Felipe "⁠insani⁠" Yuji wrapping around Long gave his team the slight lead at the half.

Cloud9 12-12 MIBR

MIBR made it to within one, bringing the deficit back to 9-10, after a five-round streak. It looked as if it would ultimately be for naught as Cloud9 pulled ahead on the brink and brought it to match point, but a final push from Raphael "⁠exit⁠" Lacerda and company brought it to a stalemate at the end of regulation.

Four rounds on the trot and MIBR are right back in it, reducing Cloud9's once large lead to a very bridgable margin. Breno "⁠brnz4n⁠" Poletto is so far the knight in shining armor for the Brazilian side with 108 ADR in these first 18 rounds.

Cloud9 10-4 MIBR

Cloud9 led by four at the half, 8-4, and were in prime position to take their map pick and by extension the series after they smashed their way through Anubis.

After the half, Kirill "⁠Boombl4⁠" Mikhailov and company extended their lead in the pistol round and are continuing on the path to the playoffs by hitting double digits.

Cloud9 6-2 MIBR

Cloud9 is well in the lead as Abay "⁠HObbit⁠" Khassenov started off on a tear with 13 kills in eight rounds and 153 ADR to boot. The Russian-majority squad is putting up the building blocks for a solid half that could eventually crystalize into an unsurmountable lead.

Earlier today, we posted some concerns about the tournament after Spirit and Virtus.pro left the stage during a technical pause. This goes against the rulebook, and the tournament organizer has released the following statement:

1. "The phone in the hands of the player was under the strict supervision of the referee. Due to power problems, the player needed to log in to Steam. All rules were followed.
2. "Spirit will receive a warning for leaving the stage during the match, as part of the tournament rules. They violated the tournament rules.
3. "Both FISSURE admins will receive a monetary fine for the violation."

They also confirmed that Virtus.pro only left the stage after gaining permission from the admin, hence why only Spirit have been warned.

Cloud9 2-1 MIBR

Cloud9 won the first pistol round on Inferno, starting their map pick on the attacking side. They then followed it up, but were stopped by a solid defense in the bonus round to kick things off 2-1.

Cloud9 13-3 MIBR

Cloud9 bashed MIBR in the opening map of the series, Anubis, 13-3. Kirill "⁠Boombl4⁠" Mikhailov and company now have a golden opportunity to close the series out in two maps as they head over to their own pick of Inferno.

Cloud9 10-2 MIBR

Cloud9 take a massive lead at the half off the back of two quad-kill rounds, the latter being carried out by Kirill "⁠Boombl4⁠" Mikhailov and including a 1vs1 game of cat and mouse with a CT player to give the bomb long enough time to explode.

Cloud9 7-2 MIBR

Cloud9 are applying the pressure and MIBR can do nothing to stop the Russians. Sergey "⁠Ax1Le⁠" Rykhtorov, who has at times struggled to show his best form this year, had a great play in the eighth round with four kills while defending the bomb on the B site to keep his team steadily in the lead.

Cloud9 2-1 MIBR

Cloud9 started the series off on the right foot, winning the first pistol round on the attacking side of Anubis, MIBR's pick, and following it up in the anti-eco before losing the bonus round.

The second map of the series is slated to be Inferno, Cloud9's pick, while the decider, if needed, will be Mirage.

The second match of the day after Virtus.pro's victory over Spirit in the Group B winners' match, which ended up with Dzhami "⁠Jame⁠" Ali and company punching their ticket to the playoffs, will be Group A's analogous series between Cloud9 and MIBR.

The Russian side beat GamerLegion 2-0 in a one-sided affair, whereas MIBR found their way to the winners' match after beating BetBoom in their opening series.

Speaking to HLTV post-game, on facing Spirit so much: "When you play against the same team so much there are always mind-games. It can work in different ways, I'm happy that we won today but Spirit are a good team, a young team, and it's always hard to beat them. I see that game after game they develop, and show something new.

On n0rb3r7's form in CS2: "After Jönköping he's been feeling good about himself, his communication is good, how he feels the game, his aim. I always bring attention to the fact that he needs to be like that always. He's young, strong-blooded, an emotional person, and he needs to control his emotions. Stability long-term is really important, he's young and can still be better in the future."

On the technical pauses: "We have a lot of experience with this. Even in Majors, it happens a lot where all PCs are down, we feel comfortable in that type of situation because it happens a lot. Nowadays it's less often, but it's BetBoom's first event. They can fix it for the next one."

On why everyone went backstage during the pause: "The rules at BetBoom are not as strict as at ESL or BLAST. It's a bit easier to go to the toilet, and so on. But I prefer to be like ESL and BLAST just with more opportunities to go to the toilet. Because in overtimes, even big playoffs like Katowice, you want to go to the toilet and it's the fifth overtime and it can be very bad. It's a Russian-speaking community, it's not as strict."

Plenty of cause for concern over the tournament's integrity.

Many have understandably noted the clash of the title sponsor also owning one of the teams in attendance, BetBoom, but it runs depeer: Players were just now allowed to go backstage mid-match and one even retrieved his phone during the technical pause. Team staff have gone on stage to talk to their players as well.

This potentially allows the players to gain economic and other key information about the other team that they otherwise wouldn't.

Update: According to the organizers, one of Spirit's players was allowed to retrieve his phone to use the Steam Authenticator after they encountered power issues.

We're back live, and the teams have traded rounds. Time for Spirit to save guns this time as they face the wrath of Dzhami "⁠Jame⁠" Ali's AWP on the B bombsite.

Then they use the weapons to exec on the B bombsite again, this time much faster, to break through the defense.

Virtus.pro 8-7 Spirit

Spirit got the opening kill and then all froze in the 16th round. The issue is being fixed, but let's see where the match resumes once it does.

The half ended all tied up and since VP have won the pistol, pulling off the unlikely retake in a disadvantage on B.

Twice in the last four rounds VP saved four guns after losing the opening kill. That happened again in the last, but this time they actually decided to act, only to get decimated on the A bombsite with 10 seconds left on the clock.

Virtus.pro lost the opening kill again and this time just... saved four weapons. On the T side. I'm not sure why I'm still surprised.

Despite consistently giving up opening kills Virtus.pro have gotten off to a good start on the Terrorist side.

David "⁠n0rb3r7⁠" Danielyan has been on a tear so far in CS2 and he has continued superb form in this game so far.

Opening kills, multikills, impact in late rounds, he had it all as Virtus.pro picked up the first map.

Well, you can't say David "⁠n0rb3r7⁠" Danielyan didn't try. He couldn't quite get the defuser through a smoke, but then somehow gets all three survivors with a glock, spinning around in rage.

Overtime fits the bill for this game. Spirit survived up against match point with the correct rotations to B and we're heading to extra rounds.

Virtus.pro's offense has come alive, in no small part thanks to David "⁠n0rb3r7⁠" Danielyan, who has now had a couple of big rounds.

The CT side has been on lockdown from Spirit so far, who had Danil "⁠donk⁠" Kryshkovets pick up a Dual Elites triple in the pistol and Artem "⁠ArtFr0st⁠" Kharitonov clutch a 1v1 defusing the bomb inside smoke.

Back and forth we go as VP begin to contest the grounds off of big impact from David "⁠n0rb3r7⁠" Danielyan in defense of the B bombsite and a retake and defuse inside smoke in the one round Spirit have gone to A so far.

The pistol went VP's way, but since guns have come out it's all been Spirit after Leonid "⁠chopper⁠" Vishnyakov kicked things off with a triple.

Day three of BetBoom Dacha is here with each group's winners' matches up first.

Virtus.pro and Spirit are about to play for first place in Group B and a spot in the playoffs in what will be their fifth encounter since August. The score in those matches 2-2, and in maps it's 6-5 in favor of Dzhami "⁠Jame⁠" Ali and company.

Spirit won the only LAN encounter between the two at PARI, Please, though, and it's perhaps because of that that they are apparently heading into the matchup as betting favorites.
