ESL Impact League Season 4 FinalsNigma Galaxy beat HSG fe to stave off elimination in Valencia
The reigning ESL Impact League champions bounced back from Friday’s loss and are through to the playoffs.
The field at the ESL Impact League Season 4 Finals has been whittled down to its last four teams following the end of the group stage. Nigma Galaxy and NAVI Javelins move on to the playoffs, joining group winners Fluxo Demons and 9 Pandas Fearless in the single-elimination bracket.
FURIA fe cut a frustrated figure as they fell to NAVI Javelins 2-1 in the Group B decider match—their worst campaign in an ESL Impact tournament after finishing in second place in the first two editions (the team didn’t qualify for the Season 3 Finals).
Rounding off the day was the Group A decider between Nigma Galaxy and HSG fe in a rematch of the tournament’s opening game. The three-time ESL Impact League champions drew first blood in the series with an overtime win on Vertigo before HSG fe hit back in a marathon of an Overpass game that went to 42 rounds and that saw Ana "ANa" Dumbravă rack up 51 frags.
After such closely contested maps, Ancient ended up being a one-sided street as Nigma Galaxy kept their opponents from stringing rounds together and ran out 13-5 winners, sealing passage to the semi-final stage.
