FaZe fend off resilient Heroic in frozen debut: "Welcome to FaZe"

David "⁠frozen⁠" Čerňanský's debut with FaZe turned out harder than expected despite a dominant start.

FaZe came out on top of their opening Group B encounter against HEROIC at the BLAST Premier World Final in their first official match with their newest addition, frozen.

In what turned out a much tougher affair than expected against a HEROIC squad playing with three temporary members, there were smiles and jokes all around between frozen and his former MOUZ teammates Finn "⁠karrigan⁠" Andersen and Robin "⁠ropz⁠" Kool.

"It feels amazing to be back, I look left, look right, two old homies next to me," frozen said to James "⁠BanKs⁠" Banks after the match.

The debut didn't come without some nerves, the new member admitted, saying, "I think it was healthy excitement, first game with the boys, new jersey and everything. I think it's gonna shake off for the future."

Those nerves were nowhere to be seen when frozen kickstarted the series with a 1v3 clutch in round four of Overpass, however, taking advantage of a HEROIC team that did not expect the Slovakian to go for it.

"Welcome to FaZe!" Conner "⁠Scrawny⁠" Girvan exclaimed in a commentary of the clutch, which ensured FaZe's hot start in the series. The European side went on to dominate the rest of the half on the CT side and rallied to a quick victory on the opening map, limiting HEROIC to just three rounds, including both pistols.

Ancient turned out a much tougher affair, but as frozen described it after the match, it was in true FaZe fashion that they denied HEROIC a chance to push it to three maps.

When down 8-11 after a slow start to the CT side, Helvijs "⁠broky⁠" Saukants's AWP triple and a ropz triple spraydown helped FaZe get on the board and win four out of five rounds before it went to overtime. In extra rounds, it was Håvard "⁠rain⁠" Nygaard's flashy 1v2 clutch that ensured his team's victory.
