The first round of matches in the PGL Major Copenhagen Europe RMR closed qualifiers has concluded after the majority of favorites scored wins in their best-of-ones to go 1-0.

Spirit, fnatic, and Aurora are the exceptions to that, with Leonid "⁠chopper⁠" Vishnyakov's side notably failing in their debut with Dmitry "⁠sh1ro⁠" Sokolov.

The Russian team got off to a poor start against KOI on Ancient, going down 3-9, but won six rounds in a row on their CT side to tie up the game. However, KOI came out on top of a narrow 1v1 situation to gain the upper hand, and Adam "⁠adamS⁠" Marian then stepped on Spirit's throats with a 1v3 clutch to set his team on match point and close out the map, 13-9.

fnatic went out on a sour note versus SAW, garnering six CT rounds on Anubis and moving up to match point at 12-8 after the side swap. That lead was squandered into overtime, however, and the Portuguese team rallied into overtime to clinch victory, 16-13.

Meanwhile, the likes of Cloud9, MOUZ, Astralis, Virtus.pro, Natus Vincere, and HEROIC scored wins to advance to the 1-0 pool of their respective qualifiers, where they will play one more best-of-one in hopes of securing early berths to the advancement matches.

The most notable Round 2 matchups will put MOUZ against HEROIC, Astralis against Preasy, and BetBoom against BIG in the 1-0 pool. Spirit will battle Entropiq in the 0-1 pool in the B qualifier, while fnatic will take on SINNERS.
