Five EU RMR spots remain as closed qualifiers reach end

The six teams that went 2-3 in the Swiss stage will now duke it out in the decider qualifier.

Six more teams locked up spots in the European RMR on Saturday following the fifth round of the closed qualifiers' Swiss stage. Only five spots in Bucharest are now up for grabs, which will go to the top teams of Sunday's decider qualifier.

OG were the first team to come through the fifth round of the Swiss stage, beating Nexus in a quick 2-0 series with an inspired performance from Nikita "⁠HeavyGod⁠" Martynenko, who posted a 1.82 rating to take his tournament rating to 1.29 rating.

HEROIC brushed aside sYnck in two maps to qualify for the RMRs, while fnatic beat ECSTATIC with a vintage Freddy "⁠KRIMZ⁠" Johansson performance (1.45 rating and 100 ADR). Coming straight out of a three-map series against ex-ThunderFlash, KOI showed no signs of fatigue and made light work of PERA.

The other two series were the only ones that went the full distance. World No.3 MOUZ had to work extremely hard to avoid an upset against Preasy, while 9 Pandas edged past 3DMAX after three highly-contested maps.

The six teams that were on the losing end of 2-2 matches will have at least two more chances to qualify for the RMR via the decider qualifier on Sunday. Three teams will come out of the initial round of matches, while the other two will be determined by the fourth-place and fifth-place decider series.
