TheMongolz, ATOX secure Asia RMR spots

The two Mongolian squads topped the East Asia tournament to move on in the Major-qualifying process.

TheMongolz march on in the Major qualifiers

The MongolZ and ATOX have secured spots at the Asia RMR event after finishing first and second in the East Asia Closed Qualifier. Taking place from February 26-28 in Shanghai, China, the event will boast six other qualified teams and offer two spots in the PGL CS2 Major Copenhagen Opening Stage.

Currently ranked 20th in the world, The MongolZ had been widely favored to make it not just through the closed qualifier but also the RMR itself, having represented the region at the past three Majors.

The squad around Garidmagnai "bLitz" Byambasuren came out swinging against regional opposition, easing past NKT and MungYu before securing the first qualifying spot with an upper final win over ATOX.

Their final opponents, boasting two mainstays of the Mongolian scene, Bat-Enkh "kabal" Batbayar and Gan-Erdene "dobu" Batbold, had a similarly straightforward path in wins over Fort Arena, GR, and The Huns.

The two Mongolian teams join Grayhound, who topped the Oceania qualifier, and Lynn Vision and TYLOO, who confirmed their favorite status in the Chinese tournament, at the Asia RMR.

Only three spots at the Major-qualifying tournament remain to be decided. One will come from the Asia closed qualifier, which is nearing its end, and the other two from the Middle Eastern counterpart, set to run from January 26-28.

Honestly the region was pretty atrocious anyway. The Asian teams have finally shown some actual growth, but it took them an entire game's lifespan to do it.

Actually, if you knew something about Asian scene, you would know that from 2016 to 2020 Asian CS had a massive growth and likes of MVP PK and TYLOO actually started competing with top EU and NA teams. The reason it all died out is because most of the asian national scenes went to Valo (South Korea, Japan and Indonesia for example). Asia was also pretty decent in previous games (WeMadeFox/ESTRO, wNv Teamwork or TyLoo once again)

Asian CS during CSGO has never been competitive with Tier 1. In the last 2 years we've seen better teams, but don't come at me with this "you don't know" horseshit because you can't show me a single event where an Asian team made the finals where there were Tier 1 teams. It hasn't happened in CSGO, and they were only just starting to do well by the end. How good Asian CS was in 1.6 is irrelevant to GO/CS2. I watched Lunatic-Hai vs SK in 2005 at CPL. I remember when Tuscan first showed up, no one understood how to play it, and it was the final map for e-STRO vs MYM at ESWC 2008. Trust me, I've seen good Asian CS.

I'm talking about CSGO, not 1.6. I figured that was clear when I said, "it hasn't happened in CSGO..." and, "how good Asian CS was in 1.6 is irrelevant to GO/CS2."

Lol asia had very few chances to get international tournaments in the past. If valve focused on asia and actually cares this region i surely know that asian scene will be grow much better than na scene. Like riot actually cares asia and asia is now big part of it now.

I mean, Riot sort of has to since they're owned by Tencent. And a giant portion of their audience is from Asia due to LoL.

And asian cs has no viewers due to there are no competitiveness. If valve and any other organizations actually cares for asia this scene will grow. No??? Like any other games. Lol dota valorant. Even pubg mobiles most of audiences are asian. If this thing keeps this way asia will never grow. Cuz there is so much game to play in asia rn

There are issues with Asian CS other than Valve. Especially in China. This isn't really a discussion about NA vs. Asian CS. Neither scene is in great shape, but historically NA has been more competitive in CSGO. Asia has a gigantic demographic based on population, so theoretically they should be competitive if they cared about CS, but they don't. It's fine, but it's weird to me having someone pretend like Asia's history in CSGO wasn't anything more than disappointing.

Hha talking to you is one of my mistake tho. I wasn't talking bout na vs asia. I dont care what chinese problem is. I talking about asia. Asia only got few chances in every other international events. Compare to the other esports. Its fking ridiculous. Can you watch other esports???? Asia always big part of it. If you actually cares. And you talk bout like asia never try. No. Before 2019 there was so many asian team competing in asian scene. Almost every asian country had a cs team. Its like starting to blossom. But after that there's only mongolian and chinese. Every org dont giva fuck to asia due to their lack of audiences. Cuz they need money out of it. Riot doing so excellent job rn. Except valve. Cuz they r chinese org. Thats why they are caring asian scene. And it works fine by now. Every major esports game. Man why u cant giva chance to asia?? This that and that thiss. Lol its literally geographically challenged. Over +4.5B population and got only one slot if u lucky. Why are u so being stubborn. Like kid who afraid of being outside. And dont even consider to get outside. Try a new thing man. Grow up.

First of all, you shouldn't assume that when I refer to China I'm referring to all of Asia. I'm not so stupid as to think China is all of Asia. I have friends who have lived in Taiwan, Japan and China, some of whom I've visited when they lived in those places. Second of all, you assume that I dislike Asian CS. I don't. I do, however, dislike making excuses or pretending that things aren't the way they are. Asian CS, during CSGO, was mostly irrelevant. It's not something I'm happy about or revel in, I always hoped to see another good Asian team (especially Korean), since I really enjoyed Asian CS back in 1.6. Third, as I said, there's more to Asian CS's issues than just Valve. There's never been a tremendous abundance of teams in CS in Asia, and some of that is because Asians don't really care about the kind of game that CS is. Also, when you talk about 4.5 Billion people, and the majority of those reside in China, it's kind of telling that one of the primary issues boils down to China's own issues with gaming and youth culture. Fourth, don't make a fool of yourself trying to insult me on the internet. Don't get upset over a conversation, it's fucking weird. You don't even understand what I'm talking about, you're just reacting to something you don't like. Next time you want to talk about maturity you might consider looking in the mirror.

Hey cool story, now show me where in CSGO an Asian team made the final of a tier 1 event. Hold on, I'll wait. No one's talking about event wins, we're talking about Asian teams in CSGO. Come on now, at least try to use your brain before you insult me.

It’s called business. New players launch their product into the market using the weak point of majors like valve dont give a sht to Asia. While Riot penetrated more into Asia. So its expected to asian players shift from cs to valo

CS wasn't exactly huge in Asia pre-Valorant. I'd get the argument if it was, but part of the reason Valve didn't support Asia that much was because it was historically a small population of players. I also think that Asians identify with Valorant more stylistically speaking. That's a whole other thing though. Everyone seems to think that I hate Asian CS, when I'd very much like to see that scene grow. I do wish Valve would put more emphasis on Asia, but their drive has always been to support the areas according to playerbase. They've really never tried to drive players to CSGO through monetary support, they're actually very uninterested in that.

Compete doesnt mean reaching finals, it means they are able to play against them on the same level and not get fucked like OG.

2 days later we're back here? How many times have Asian teams in CSGO gone to big tournaments and made it past groups? How are Asian teams any fucking better than the shitshow that is OG? Why is OG even a benchmark in this conversation???

What is your definition of competition? Going out in groups? Taking a map off a top team in a Bo3? Making Legends stage once in 12 years and going 1-3? The difference between us is that I've given you examples of scenarios you could refute with objective evidence and your only reply is, "you don't understand." Educate me. Please explain what level of competition you think Asian teams achieved in CSGO.
