Falcons recoup morale in Denmark with OG win

k1to's men have been cast down to the Showdown after falling flat in the Spring Groups.

Falcons have recovered from their day one battering by Astralis with aplomb, dumpstering OG on Ancient 13-2 before eventually converting their own pick of Vertigo 13-11 to keep their Spring Final-qualifying aspirations alive.

Falcons can also take some solace in the fact that Astralis beat Vitality in the upper bracket, meaning the Danes truly are in splendid form, but that result also means that Emil "⁠Magisk⁠" Reif and Danny "⁠zonic⁠" Sørensen are already set for a meeting against their former teammates and organization in the consolidation final on Friday.

The Marco "⁠Snappi⁠" Pfeiffer-led side needed a tour de force to reinstill confidence after a shaky start in Denmark, and a masterclass CT effort on Ancient did just that, particularly so after they had garnered just three rounds on the map against Astralis on Monday. Álvaro "⁠SunPayus⁠" García's 19-3 K-D, 2.10 rating, and 106.2 ADR was partially to thank for such a one-sided showing, but the team's riflers, too, were in fearsome form in securing an early map victory.

A strong opening gamut on Vertigo kept that confidence up as Falcons soared to 9-6 and 12-8 leads on their map pick, with OG relying on late-round heroics from Nikita "⁠HeavyGod⁠" Martynenko and Iulian "⁠regali⁠" Harjău to bail themselves out of multiple 2vX situations.

In the dying moments of the map OG seemed to find their footing, however, recovering from multi-kills by Mohammad "⁠BOROS⁠" Malhas that always kept Falcons dangerously close to victory. Fittingly, then, it was the Jordanian rifler who crushed OG's hopes in the final round of the map, clutching a 1v2 on B to put the cap on a superb individual showing and net his team the win.
