G2 ease past NIP to send them to Spring Showdown

G2 did not have to dig deep into their considerable well of raw skill to take down NIP.

m0NESY produced some of his trademark lightening-fast highlights against NIP

G2 have earned themselves a spot in the final of Group C at BLAST Premier Spring Groups with a comfortable 2-0 win over Ninjas in Pyjamas. Vertigo (13-6) was a stroll in the park for G2, and although Ninjas in Pyjamas showed a little more gumption on the second map, G2 were ultimately good value for their win on Anubis (13-9) as well.

Ninjas in Pyjamas came into the matchup with little expectation placed upon them, as they had been thoroughly outclassed by G2 in the opening round of Group C and are generally not a highly-rated team. The Ninjas managed a slightly better showing this time around, but not by much, and their lack of firepower compared to G2 was painfully evident with Kristian "k0nfig" Wienecke producing such a poor performance.

Not much can be gleaned about G2's form from this game as they never needed to find their top gear, although Ilya "m0NESY" Osipov was a compelling force with the Big Green, particularly on Vertigo, and Nemanja "nexa" Isaković had one of his better series since donning the G2 jersey once more.

Next up for G2 is a rematch with Natus Vincere, and considering how close the upper final game between the two sides was, Rasmus "HooXi" Nielsen and co. will be confident they can clinch a positive result this time around.

Match

Vertigo was an entirely straightforward affair for G2 and particularly m0NESY's AWP, outside of a short spree Ninjas in Pyjamas's offense managed to muster in the first half. A victorious second half pistol could have given Ninjas in Pyjamas a chance to make the map competitive, but they fumbled horribly against a full Glock eco in the following round and couldn't recover.

Anubis was a slightly closer affair because Ninjas in Pyjamas showed a bit more grit on their CT side, but as the Ninjas only managed a measly four offensive rounds, the map was always going to be an uphill battle. G2 had enough potency to their executes to put down Ninjas in Pyjamas' resistance, taking the map and the series.

why people said nexa was not good enough to replace jks? Second best rated player here. looks like he is doing pretty good so far except a few bad matches which jks had plenty of last year

jks had an average stats of 1.00 - 1.05 in last year. why you pretend jks having ropz stats when he was average?

He's good enough to play the role, but that doesn't mean he's a good replacement for JKS.

he is that’s why g2 benched jks. no team benches a player without reason

The reason is money. I don't know how casual a viewer you are of esports, but money is a HUGE issue for every single org. Even the big ones. The investor money is drying up because the economy is still a little shaky. We still see orgs spend a bunch of money on players which is pretty fucking crazy to me. Overwatch League got straight up dropped by Blizzard and it only returned when they got Saudi money. LoL in North America is completely screwed. Rocket League is scaling down it's pro circuit, cutting prize pools and firing a bunch of talent. I'm just gonna say it. Nexa is a subpar player and if there wasn't economic turmoil, he would most likely be a free agent right now. He's good enough, but nothing special.

you are talking bs it got debunked multiple times in interviews and podcasts that this was never a financial decision. Jks came straight from a 1.5 year bench contract to g2 which means his salary was most likely the average salary you get when you enter t1. no team picked up jks for over a year and you assume he got star players salary. Let’s not forget nexa used to play in g2 for 2 years therefore they can’t offer him much less salary. if you think a bit further you would notice that they signed nexa while they are keeping jks on the bench and they have to pay him bench salary = nexa salary + jks bench salary = not really saving money here. “Nexa would be a free agent now “ no he wouldn’t. In a statement og issued that nexa did not resign but left the org which means he could’ve stayed there as team captain and enjoy free money and we all know how rare igls are he could easily go to other teams as igl but he said in thorin interview that he wants to play as rifler for now. Nexa doing pretty good so far why you call him subpar just because you hate him for accepting g2 offer?

Now please? Better late than never - make NiP swedish again! I understand the concept of haveing an international team due to more players to choose from if needed, but what type of players can they even attract nowadays? Better to have t1/t2 swedish players into one team than haveing 4-5 t3 international players …..
