GamerLegion are eliminated from their inaugural appearance in the BLAST Groups in 9th-12th place with the loss and fall to the Showdown, where they will join 15 other teams in a fight for two spots at the Spring Final.
They began their run with a stunning win over the heavy favorites of the groups, FaZe, but couldn't repeat that success in the rematch after falling to the lower bracket following a loss to Liquid.
The same two maps were picked again, only in reverse order. Ancient, an overtime affair in the first encounter, was a breeze for FaZe this time around, in large part thanks to a red-hot Håvard "rain" Nygaard.
The Norwegian's 1v3 clutch broke GamerLegion early on the defense, and he continued to be a menace throughout the first half with another 1v1 clutch and a few crucial entries. This allowed FaZe to rack up eight rounds in the first half, and with a pistol win to boot in the second there wasn't much their opponents could do to prevent the loss.
GamerLegion went through an ordeal to equalize the series on Overpass. After being up 6-1 off the back of superb entry work from Nicolas "Keoz" Dgus in Monster, they fumbled two rounds in a row, losing a 5v3 situation and then forgetting to plant the bomb in a last-second execute on A.
They nearly came to pay for the mistake as FaZe ran with the opportunity and won 10 out of the next 11 rounds, but in the end GamerLegion pulled it back around from a 7-11 deficit to clinch the game in overtime in a true team effort.
After the highlight-filled opener, rain had a quiet Overpass but then woke up for Inferno to lead a superb defense for FaZe. An 8-4 CT half combined with numerous 3v5 turns in the second half granted them the series win and a place in the group final.
