Rebels stun Cloud9 in IEM Katowice Play-In
The Russian side started off on the wrong foot in Poland.

Cloud9 have dropped down to the lower bracket of the Play-In stage of IEM Katowice after losing to Rebels 13-10 on Mirage. The Polish team showed incredible composure in this best-of-one game to set up a clash against Eternal Fire in the second round.
Making matters even more surprising is how poorly Rebels had been doing in the lead-up to the event, losing matches to teams like Passion UA, Sampi and Viperio. But here they were one step above a lackluster Cloud9 side that continues to disappoint.

The Russian team jumped out to a 4-1 lead on the T side before Rebels tightened up their defense and equalized the score before half-time. A 1v2 clutch by Mariusz "casey" Jarząb in the following pistol round put Rebels in the lead, with the home side riding that momentum to a surprisingly easy victory.
"To be honest, I’m speechless,” Rafał "sNx" Snopek said after the match. "I’m really proud of the team. We have been practicing hard. We haven’t had good results lately, but we kept a positive mentality, and we managed to win."

One of the biggest questions heading into the first round of the Play-In was whether BIG would be able to maintain the level of form shown in the BLAST Premier Spring Groups, especially considering that they were facing a completely new team in ENCE, now featuring the former 9INE core.
The Polish team came out the brighter side on Ancient, but the landscape of the game changed once BIG had money in the bank. Johannes "tabseN" Wodarz’s troops won six rounds in succession before Olek "hades" Miskiewicz made some crucial AWP plays in the final rounds to take his score to 13-4.
BIG took control of proceedings after switching to the CT side, winning six rounds in a row to reach match point. ENCE still attempted a response, but it was simply too little, too late, as the Germans put the game to bed off the back of a trio of frags by David "prosus" Hesse.
