nafany: "We just need time to be on the same level as Cloud9"
nafany's BetBoom went out early at the IEM Katowice Play-in and go back to the drawing board to recover in time for the PGL Major RMR.
After a successful bid in the PGL Major Copenhagen closed qualifiers, BetBoom's return to LAN in Katowice did not go as planned. Eternal Fire demolished Vladislav "nafany" Gorshkov's team in the opener 13-1 before the Russian squad also lost the lower bracket match to his former organization, Cloud9.
The in-game leader briefly spoke with HLTV after the elimination to discuss what had gone wrong after BetBoom's hard-fought win on Overpass in quadruple overtime.
nafany dismissed the notion that the matchup against Cloud9 is personal to him due to the changes the team has undergone since his departure. He nonetheless went on to say that he wants to "f*ck them a bit" but admitted BetBoom still need time to get on Cloud9's level.

Commiserations for your loss to Cloud9. It looked like a pretty emotional match from the outside, very personal as well, a lot of shouting back and forth. Was it as personal as it looked? Tell me about it from your perspective.
From my perspective it wasn't personal. I'm trying to shout and yell as much as I can versus any team. If we say about Eternal Fire, for example, we won only one round, and I was screaming this one round and that's it (smirks). I just didn't have a chance to scream.
Anyway, it wasn't personal for me at all because it's like a different lineup right now, I'm playing not versus Cloud9 but versus NAVI. They even scream the same thing in the huddle like NAVI, "vizhu tsel, ne vizhu preyatstviy" [I see a goal, I see no obstacles]. It's another thing, for me it's kinda stupid because they're not playing in the same org. For me it's like a different team right now, and of course I kinda want to fuck them a bit, but let's be honest, they have... not the better lineup, but we just need time to be on the same level as Cloud9 right now. They have like four Major winners, so...
After the hard-fought win on Overpass it looked like you ran out of steam. Was that the case? What happened on the second and third map?
I would say they are just playing better on these maps right now. We have a lot of things we can discuss between players, and that's it. It's hard to say only one thing because it depends on the map, and it seems like we just need to prepare better than we prepared for this tournament.
Towards the end of the match there was a moment where you got pretty upset at one of your teammates. Can you tell me what happened there?
I was just calling two things two rounds in a row, and I would say the player just didn't listen to me one time, and the second time it seems like he didn't hear me. Actually, it was my mistake, I would say. As a leader I shouldn't do such things. I understand it's a bad thing, and I hope that in the future I will not let myself do what I did.
You mentioned the loss to Eternal Fire as well, and it's been a rough finish for you at this tournament. What's the issue? You spoke about having to prepare differently - you have the RMR coming up in a couple of weeks, so what is it that you need to address? How are you going to come back from this?
First of all, I would say it's better to lose right now and not in the RMR. Obviously our favorite between these tournaments is the RMR. Nothing to say - the first game we lost only because we were kinda nervous, I would say, and that's it.
