Metizport qualify for BLAST Premier Spring Showdown

The Swedes beat the likes of Apeks and FURIA to make it to the cutthroat Spring Final qualifier.

Metizport made it through the RES Western European Masters qualifier, which featured the likes of Apeks, FURIA, or fnatic, to secure a spot at the table in the BLAST Premier Spring Showdown, where 16 teams will be fighting for two spots at the Spring Final.

The Swedes lost to Apeks in the best-of-one group stage after an opening victory against FURIA, and then sent the Brazilians packing in the elimination match to reach the playoffs.

The best-of-three stage of the tournament started in the semi-finals, with Metizport playing Sprout on one side of the bracket and Apeks going up against 3DMAX on the other. A rematch from the group stage ensued.

This time around, however, it was Metizport who came out on top in a three-map match. Tim "⁠nawwk⁠" Jonasson did his best to stop his countrymen, posting a 1.35 rating in the series, but the Swedish side was dominant on the Inferno decider.

Two months into the reunification of the old Young Ninjas core with the addition of Erik "⁠ztr⁠" Gustafsson, who is once again alongside Linus "⁠nilo⁠" Bergman and Adam "⁠adamb⁠" Ångström, and with the addition of 19-year-old Tim "⁠susp⁠" Ångström, Metizport are looking to take the next step with showings like the one in this qualifier.

The youthful Swedish side — the team averages just 20.6 years of age — are also in contention at YaLLa Compass Spring Contenders, where they beat Sprout and Sampi in he best-of-three Swiss stage and currently hold a 2-0 record ahead of their match against Endpoint on February 29.

The BLAST Premier Spring Showdown, which will run on March 6-10, now has 15 of the 16 teams confirmed, with one more spot up for grabs in the RES East EU Masters Spring Cup '24, where Monte are the frontrunners.

Looking at NIPs level now they could just have their academy promoted, spend much less money, get swedes cheer for them again and not be far away from recent results anyway

He meant that most, if not all of this roster was part of YN before. ztr, adamb, nilo, abdi (coach) jackinho and susp only ones who werent, and there are pieces in the current/prev YN that couldve been on par/upgrades to them.

Yeah i meant a hypothetical situation in which Young Ninjas core (ztr, adam and nilo) would get promoted, could be also maxster or phzy for jackinho, they got some options

AdamB is great, playing hard positions and putting up good numbers. Susp as well. If Cadian drop the ball in Liquid he would fit a NiP line-up with youngsters great being both IGL and AWp which Sweden lack. fnatic has no obligation to go back to Swedish when they're not even a swedish org to begin with and have always fielded international rosters across all esports they're apart of or were apart of.

Between 2005 and 2011 and 2013-2021 Fnatic's counter-strike team was pretty much exclusively Swedish so him wishing for fnatic to field an all Swedish lineup again like it used to do for many years is not really strange is it?
