Eternal Fire ravage BetBoom to earn Major berth

The Turkish team returns to a Major for the first time since PGL Antwerp.

Eternal Fire have slaughtered BetBoom in a two-map series to become the final team from Europe RMR A to advance to PGL Major Copenhagen, sending Vladislav "⁠nafany⁠" Gorshkov's side down to the hyper-competitive Last Chance qualifier where all 2-3 teams from RMR A and B will vie for a single spot at the Major.

The Turkish team had a labored journey through the RMR, surviving a close battle against Ninjas in Pyjamas in their opener and getting two rough draws in G2 and FaZe, losing to the former in overtime in a best-of-one and again to the latter on Overpass to ultimately lose their first qualifying series 0-2.

Engin "⁠MAJ3R⁠" Küpeli's side recovered spectacularly from that loss, however, completely outclassing BetBoom with one-sided victories on Mirage and Vertigo.

The Russian team looked lost on their map pick and couldn't find an answer to Özgür "⁠woxic⁠" Eker and Ismailcan "⁠XANTARES⁠" Dörtkardeş, who led their team to a 10-2 lead on the CT side before a hero AK quad-kill from the Turkish rifler helped close things out in the second half, 13-7.

woxic's excellence continued on Vertigo, where XANTARES barely had to contribute as Ali "⁠Wicadia⁠" Haydar Yalçın and Buğra "⁠Calyx⁠" Arkın handled the lion's share of the rifle work. An almost flawless defense from the Turkish team saw BetBoom tally just one round in the first half, with Eternal Fire wasting no time in claiming victory after the side swap.

Hugely deserved. These guys always get the toughest draws - almost unfair for them to have been in the 2-2 bracket. They are genuinely a 3-0 or 3-1 quality team.

I was thinking that, considerring their losses were to g2 and faze, they had a real tough run

Yeah. In Katowice they lost to Faze and Navi, and beat Falcons, all of which were playoffs teams. In the RMR playoffs they had to face Faze, G2 and Falcons. Meanwhile, SAW beat fnatic, NIP and Enterprise to reach the playoffs. Not to take anything away from SAW, but EF is genuinely has been drawing the short straw for a while now and despite everything they still made it through by way of solid CS. Massive kudos to them!
