Juve open to offers after ITB fail to reach Major

The Portuguese coach notably led the team to the playoffs of the Paris Major.

Juve's time with ITB could be coming to an end

Into the Breach coach Gustavo "Juve" Alexandre has announced that he is available to listen to offers both as a coach and an analyst. The revelation came just days after the team failed to qualify for PGL Major Copenhagen.

ITB gave a disappointing account of themselves in the Europe RMR A tournament, where they were eliminated with a 0-3 record following defeats to G2, BetBoom and 3DMAX. The team had inserted Thomas "Thomas" Utting back into the starting lineup in December, this way retaining the core of the lineup that had reached the playoffs of BLAST Paris Major.

"Even though I'm still contracted to Into the Breach, I'm available for offers," Juve wrote on X/Twitter.

"I'm looking to keep my role as coach, but an analyst role is also something I would consider."

3DMAX knock Into the Breach out of Europe RMR

Juve joined Into the Breach in January 2022, re-signing with the organization a year later after it had parted ways with the entire CS:GO squad at the end of the season. The new team made an unlikely run to the quarter-finals of the Paris Major before losing to eventual winners Vitality.

Into the Breach went through multiples changes in the months that followed the Major. Sebastian "volt" Maloș and Cai "CYPHER" Watson were transferred to GamerLegion and TSM, respectively, and Thomas was moved to the bench. Juve was also benched at one point and replaced by Martin "trace" Heldt, only to return to the team less than three months later.

Currently ranked 57th in the world, Into the Breach will now shift their focus to the European open qualifiers for IEM Dallas, scheduled for March 2-5.

I understand your point, but in 2022 he helped smooya's mix (benched heroes) reach the rmr (people might not remember because calyx and aunkere had trouble with visa and they were replace by another team) , and later in 2023 he made a deep run at the major with a team that no one thought could reach there.. So we can only admit that he has some given proofs
2024-02-18 11:55

wtf does this have to do with anything? Maybe his profile fits the coach role Why do you assume you gotta have a playing history to become coach? you can just understand the game but not be good at it.

I mean yes and no, in sports usually the worst players become coaches. But he's 21, the age is a big red flag, because you usually need a lot of experience to become a coach and the fact he never played anything of significant also limits his scope of coaching abilities.

why do you need a lot of experience to become a coach when you don't need a lot of experience to become a player? and being a coach if fairly easy compared to being a player. You don't need necessarily learn from experience to be good at something, you can just... learn

it's a lot about respect tho, that's why teams like G2 and FaZe got legendary players as their coaches because the players are far more likely to respect what the coach is saying if they were great players before and have won big tournaments. if you were never really a player then analyst might be a better role as it's not directly linked to leadership.

that's a fair take, but if your team wants a tactical coach and not someone to just scream behind you and hype you up then the knowledge that coach has about the game (acquired from experience or not) should be what stands above everything else. You wouldn't rule out a guy who is seemly smart and is demonstrably showing what is right or wrong just because he has no experience. I honestly doubt that TaZ or NEO has any actual imput on the tactical side of the game. Like what the hell he's gonna pause a game for? ''Hey guys listen, let's calm down and win ok? LET'S GO''

yeah I understand what you say, I can't say whether NEO and TaZ have any input or not, because I don't know, but I think my point is about the players actually listening or not to what the coach says, sometimes they can pretend they agree but in the actual game they do something else because they don't respect what they coach is saying, I'm not saying that can't work, but it will depend on the type of players in the team
2024-02-18 12:57

Being young and with no playing history doesn't mean not being able to manage a group of players and craft some winning tactics. Look at José Mourinho for exemple.
2024-02-18 13:32

He has a lot of cs experience from very young, played for a bit in ftw, but eventually got sidelined into assistant coach or something like that, then got fed up with the organization and left looking for a coaching position, which he found in ITB. I think that everyone can agree that even with some good players like cypher he overachieved with ITB. After major, the team got poached and that's it. It was also apparent that there were some problems with the ambient in the team because of the way that neofrag incident played out, that he was ratted by his team for making some racist comments during a match against mongolz and then kicked.

I obviously don't know his dynamic with the team and what he contributes, but there's no way that I would transfer-list the coach and NOBODY ELSE if I was ITB watching them play vs G2 was hilarious, it felt like a 3.5k elo stack against five 2100 elo solos, everyone is so ass

I think the mental in this team isn't great. Juve and Thomas took breaks a while ago and now juve is leaving. I think that major run has messed with them more then just having their players stolen.
