Cloud9 seal Copenhagen spot over Vitality

The AWPerless side sailed through the RMR 3-0.

Cloud9 have become the first team to qualify for PGL Major Copenhagen from Group B of the RMR after overcoming Vitality 2-1 (Overpass 13-8, Inferno 8-13, Anubis 13-5).

The Russian squad has come under heavy scrutiny for their persistance in a five-rifler setup after losing Dmitry "⁠sh1ro⁠" Sokolov to Spirit, but came into the RMR renewed after a long bootcamp and it showed in their play.

Vitality won just one pistol round all series, but in truth were outclassed on the decider of Anubis where Cloud9 ended their seven-map winning streak.

"It was my dream after leaving NAVI to be back in Majors," Kirill "⁠Boombl4⁠" Mikhailov told BanKs post-game. "Now I can feel good for the first time this year. We had a bad result at BLAST and Katowice but the Major is the main thing."

Limp T sides on Overpass and Anubis cost Vitality, with frustration showing on Dan "⁠apEX⁠" Madesclaire's camera as his international superteam lost their lives cheaply in defaults.

Boombl4 was particularly impactful on the AWP in this regard, picking up kills all over the map as he used his in-game nous to compensate for a lack of natural aptitude on the Big Green.

Inferno offered Vitality a respite from their struggles, with Lotan "⁠Spinx⁠" Giladi in fine multi-killing form, but the European mixture still came into Anubis cold and fell to a 0-6 deficit before the decider really got going.

Boombl4 was disrupting defaults once again, and that Cloud9 were dominating on the CT side of Anubis showed just how clear their advantage was on the day. Any hope of a comeback was then snuffed out by a Boombl4 and Ilya "⁠Perfecto⁠" Zalutskiy 2vs5 in the second pistol round.

Vitality now drop to the 2-1 bracket, and have two more chances to secure their Major berth, but have been proved to be mortal once again after such dominant displays on day one.
