GamerLegion through to LCQ final over Guild Eagles

GamerLegion and 9 Pandas will battle it out for a spot at the Major.

Snax could return to a Major for the first time since 2018 if GL beat 9 Pandas

Guild Eagles will miss the Major for the first time since they broke out on the international stage at the PGL Major Antwerp’s Europe RMR. They went into their third match ever against GamerLegion with a 2-0 record on their side, their two victories having come at the IEM Road to Rio RMR and the BLAST.tv Paris Major Challenger Stage, but this time failed to come through and make it to the first CS2 Major.

"We started with MOUZ, we should have won that game and I think it completely broke us. We almost lost to ENCE 16-0, we had to make the comeback…" Rigon "rigoN" Gashi said after being eliminated. "We fought hard now, but we just don’t have the balls to handle the pressure."

The story of Guild Eagles was one of crumbling in this elimination series. They got off to a flying 5-1 start on Vertigo, with Sener "SENER1" Mahmuti even winning a 1vs3 to further demoralize GamerLegion, but that didn’t happen as Janusz "Snax" Pogorzelski and company bounced right back winning six on the trot to take a 7-5 lead at the half.

Guild Eagles got off to a decent start on their defense, too, but were slowly picked apart when making gambles and trying to create havoc. Three rounds in a row against a fledging economy was enough for GamerLegion to run it from 10-11 to 13-11.

Guild Eagles also got off to a brilliant start on Mirage, flying through the first ten rounds with an eight-round streak to go up 8-2 on the attack. The pacey play then died down and GamerLegion got the final two of the half, which would prove crucial after the switch.

GamerLegion dismantled Guild Eagles’ defenses from the get-go on Mirage and the Kosovar squad could do nothing to stop it. Only a pistol buy win provided a moment of hope, but it faded as quickly as it came and GamerLegion charged to another 13-11.

Snax will now have a golden chance to reach a Major for the first time since 2018, when he played his last one in London with MOUZ. The Polish veteran attended the first 13 and even had a streak of 10 Major playoffs appearances.

In order to reach that feat, GamerLegion will have to jump one final hurdle, Denis "seized" Kostin’s 9 Pandas. The Russian player, with 12 Major appearances under his belt, is also fighting to reach CS’s biggest stage for the first time since 2018.
