Skyesports to run $350,000 LAN event in April

The tournament will feature eight teams and take place on the same days as IEM Chengdu.

Skyesports Masters 2024 will feature seven teams from outside of India

Skyesports has announced more details about its 2024 Masters event, the biggest Counter-Strike competition ever held by the Indian company. The tournament will take place between April 8-14 and feature a $350,000 prize pool.

Skyesports has not yet announced a location for the event, which shares the same dates as IEM Chengdu. The Chinese tournament will feature ten teams currently in the top 20, including world No.1 FaZe.

Six foreign teams will be invited to attend the Skyesports Masters, with the remaining two spots being filled via qualifiers, one for European teams and one for Indian sides.

The expectation is that the event will contribute to the growth of the Indian Counter-Strike scene. However, many will be wary of the fact that some of Skyesports’ recent grandiose plans have fallen through. Initially announced as a franchise league, the Skyesports Masters is now a standalone LAN tournament with only one local team. The Skyesports Championship 5.0, scheduled for December 2023 in Mumbai, was postponed indefinitely after Aurora had already qualified for the event and OG had accepted an invitation to compete in the tournament.

The Skyesports Masters will be the second CS2 tournament run by the Indian company. Next month, it will organize a $48,500 LAN tournament in Pune called the Skyesports Grand Slam, featuring four teams, including Aurora and Bad News Kangaroos.

probably has something to do with being brand-friendly, cant see any huge broadcasting company streaming a bunch of betting site ads for example, and the orgs would lose more money on those lost sponsors than they would from being on tv

Reward is tempting for some Mid level to low tier 1 team to show up. Rise pool is bigger than IEM chengdu. Falcons, ENCE, NaVi, C9, Apeks, liquid... can come. if they want to make some quick cash. its ez moni.... and I would be travelling where the Heck they have this tournament.

Bro, spirit, navi, vitality, falcons, liquid is not in IEM Chengdu. this tourney has a bigger prizepool than chengdu. also remember these tourney matters alot for valve ranking, which is becoming more and more important. Also some tier 2 teams like eternal fire, ence, apeks, gamerlegion, big, mibr, mongolz. There are many good top 20 teams that can attend this tourney

Yeah, as far as i remember, the game No Man's Sky legit got sued by Sky for trademark infringement. If they are willing to sue a game for such a petty reason, why wouldnt they sue these guys? (whose name is wayyy more similar)

U could argue it implies to be the eSports section of Sky because of the way the name is put together so copyright infringement makes more sense than it did with No Mans Sky

What racist remarks have I ever made? Please care to tell me. I never said the tournament wasn't a scam, I'm saying Moscow Five was never assaulted/mugged there, that is misinformation that you were spreading. A fact about the tournament for you by the way, Indian Forums/Gamers themselves recognized it was a scam and had informed the foreign teams in advance of this fact, and tried to spread articles showing how the venue wasnt even remotely ready. But Moscow Five chose to attend anyways.

Also, you are racist, stop playing dumb. You think people are blind? You will jump at any chance you can get to insult Indians. Even someone who is just commenting normal stuff, you will take that chance to indirectly insult them.
